Rachel McAdams played Regina George in Mean Girls back in 2004, but Renee Rap is the actress who took on the role in 2024 for the musical version of the movie.

Many would argue that the new Mean Girls movie was the most iconic film to hit theaters for the entire year of 2024!

Does Renee resonate with the character she played on screen at all, though?

She did an incredible job bringing Regina to life, but did she actually feel connected to the character?

Renee has more in common with Regina George than you might’ve guessed.

Renee told People Magazine, “Look, I love that she says what she thinks. I really do. Now, I think a lot of things this character says are not nice, but I think in order to be manipulative you have to be really intelligent.”

Renee continued, “I don’t think she’s using her intelligence in the best, most productive way. However, I don’t know, she’s determined. Something about that is hot to me. The mean girl is always hot to me.”

Before landing the iconic role of Regina George, the other big role Renee snagged was in a popular show called The Sex Life of College Girls.

She left the show in Season 3 to pursue other opportunities, which was a huge disappointment to fans who loved watching that character development.

The character she played on The Sex Life of College Girls was great, but no fictional character will likely ever compare to the legendary Regina George!

Renee also successfully played Regina and the New York City Broadway musical version as well. It served as proof that she knew exactly what she was doing in the edgy and iconic role.

To play a character like Regina, you have to be capable of embodying confidence, sex appeal, and charm with a slight level of delusion to you.

This is something Renee successfully accomplished as Regina.
