Lana Del Rey, with her mesmerizing voice, nostalgic aesthetic, and deeply emotive lyrics takes us to a world of faded glamour and bittersweet romance.

But in recent years, her controversial statements and behaviors have made headlines more than her music.

So, here are Lana’s biggest flubs – and why the public still loves her despite yielding the ultimate power to cancel her and her music forever.

She’s been accused of glamorizing abusive relationships

“I can hear sirens, sirens / He hit me and it felt like a kiss”, Lana sings for her album Ultraviolence.

After Lana released the Ultraviolence album, many people accused her of glamorizing unhealthy relationships.

The singer was accused of making her songs about drug issues and men not loving her back.

She came out to defend her song lyrics saying she was fed up with people accusing her of glamorizing abuse.

She emphasized she’s just a glamorous person singing about the realities of emotionally abusive relationships.

Ultimately, she decided she’d never perform “Ultraviolence” on stage again for her fans.

When she name-dropped black artists

Lana dug a bigger hole for herself when she came out to defend her songs but ended up sounding racially insensitive.

Lana mentioned that black artists like Beyonce, Megan Thee Stallion, Doja Cat, and Nicki Minaj sing at liberty about being sexy while she is lashed for singing about her relationships.

When she defended the US Capitol riot

Lana’s defense of her Ultraviolence album is not the first time her attempt at defense is turned sour.

Her comments about the U.S. Capitol riots seemed to cause another uproar.

Although Lana’s aim for going on BBC One Radio was to rectify the issue concerning her cover art for her Chemtrails Over the Country Club album, she ended up saying the former POTUS Donald Trump didn’t mean to incite the capital riots and it needed to happen.

She later noted that her “well-intentioned” and “liberal” comments were simply taken out of context by others.

Why the public still love her anyway

Lana may be known to make a mistake or two, yet people still love her and her music. Many fans find her music genuine and relatable.

With themes of love, heartbreak, and chasing dreams, Lana’s songs hit right in the feels every time.

This is what makes Lana special and loved by millions of her fans around the world.

While some of her fans later became die-hard haters of her, some others will just never stop loving her. After all who can resist a little bit of vintage charm with a side of drama?
