When discussing the character of Princess Irulan with Games Radar, Florence said, “I think that excited me the most, to see someone that was planning. You don’t necessarily know what they’re planning for, but they are aware and they are planning.”
The planning she’s referring to? The producers of Dune clearly have some special intentions regarding what’s to come with Florence’s character.
Florence said, ”She’s a very exciting character to get to work with, because you’re trying to figure out where her loyalties lie, where her wisdom ends, and what her abilities are. And it may not be loud, and it may not be feisty, and it may not be gobby like my usual characters always are. But she’s definitely intelligent. That’s been a really nice fine line to play. We’ll find out more about Princess Irulan, I’m learning about her as well.”
So, to answer the question of whether or not Florence resonates with her character, it seems that’s a bit hard to say since she is still doing her best to learn more about Princess Irulan in preparation for the third film in the franchise.
She did use the word “intelligent“ to describe her character, which is definitely a word we can use to describe Florence.
We know for a fact that Florence is intelligent based on her incredible career as an actress.
Her intelligence is based on all of the epic movies she’s agreed to film. We’re referring to Black Widow, Oppenheimer, Midsommar, and more.
If Florence wasn’t an intelligent woman, she wouldn’t have agreed to film such show-stopping movies for her diehard fans to see.
Florence also described Princess Irulan saying, “It’s funny, I was asked this morning, ‘Is she like any of the other feisty characters that I’ve played before? Whilst she may be internally, I think she’s probably one of the quietest characters I’ve ever played. She is someone that is constantly listening, and always learning, and that was something that I was so excited [about] when I was reading the script. I always acknowledged that she was always aware, maybe when other people weren’t aware, that she was recording probably internally what was going on. She’s calculated.”
In the real world, Florence doesn’t come across as a quiet or calculated individual.
She comes across as the type of woman who speaks her mind with honesty when the moment calls for it.
