Well before Sabrina Carpenter started being recognized as a pop icon with a beautiful voice and catchy songs to dance to for days, she was living her best life on Disney Channel.

Sabrina starred on a show called Girl Meets World playing the character of Maya Hart.

Did she ever feel connected to that character, or was the show simply an opportunity for her to become more well-known in the entertainment industry?

As a way of diving into her thoughts about Girl Meets World, Sabrina also opened up about spending her childhood watching Boy Meets World when she was much younger.

When she sat down to speak on the Chicks in the Office podcast, she said, “I’ve gotten so very lucky that some stories that have felt like I’ve been personally attached to them before they were created are things that I eventually ended up getting to be a part of, which you always pinch yourself in those moments.”

She also went on to say, “That was my childhood in every way, shape and form. I grew up on that set, I grew up around those people and luckily they were very kindhearted, intelligent people that definitely gave me the ability to experiment. And I definitely credit a lot of what I do now and where I am because of that show and that character I got to play. So, yeah, a very, very special project.”

So, to answer the question about whether or not she resonates with Maya Hart, it seems she looks at the character through a sweet and reflective lens.

Sabrina understands that starring in that spinoff show is what allowed the original show to pus its intriguing storyline from the 90s into a more modern era.

She also acknowledged the fact that she was able to work alongside some awesome co-stars and producers who she described as kindhearted and intelligent.

All in all, Girl Meets World was a very special show for Sabrina and she generally only has positive things to say about it.

Sabrina did an awesome job playing Maya Hart, which leads us to believe there’s a chance she’ll potentially be interested in returning to acting to some degree down the line.

Obviously, right now she’s more focused on music than anything else, but knowing that she also has her acting chip in her back pocket is a great thing!
