Sophie Turner‘s connection to Sansa Stark on Game of Thrones.
Sophie opened up about what it was like the cast as Sansa at the young age of 15.
The role certainly changed her life by turning her into a household name, pretty much overnight.
On top of that, she was constantly filming scenes that were intense as hell.
As a reminder, Sansa was beaten, abused, tortured, and assaulted on more than one occasion.
In one of the worst scenes ever, Sansa was brutally SA’d by her sadistic husband, Ramsay Bolton while Theon Greyjoy was forced to watch.
Before all that, Sansa’s character was forced to fraternize with another terrible character named Joffrey Lannister.
After that, she dealt with Petyr Baelish who was old enough to be her father yet he constantly approached her with inappropriate and sexual desires based on his crush on her mother, Catelyn Stark.
According to The Cut, Sophie opened up about her traumatic connection to the role of Sansa saying, “Growing up on a show like Game of Thrones, the subject matter was so heavy that I just developed a coping mechanism of just having the most fun in between takes, so I wouldn’t get traumatized.”
When she was asked if she’s still presently affected by the trauma she endured on camera, she responded by saying, “I’m sure I’ll exhibit some symptoms of trauma down the road. At that age, I don’t think I could comprehend a lot of the scene matter.”
When the show finally came to an end, Sophie was asked about the future she envisioned for Sansa beyond season eight.
Sophie told Business Insider, “No wars, no battles. I see her leading until she’s very old. I don’t see her getting married or having children. I think it would be a democratic kind of kingdom. She’d die of old age, very happy.”
