A Reddit thread was launched to discuss Taylor’s decision to go with Sabrina instead of Olivia for the Eras Tour.
As a reminder, it’s unclear if Olivia was ever even in the running in the first place as a possible contender!
One person wrote, “I hear a lot of division on how Sabrina was a great opening act, but why didn’t Taylor choose someone like Olivia?”
Someone responded saying, “Olivia was too big to open for Taylor at that point. Olivia has her own sold out arena tour. Sabrina did great as one of my favorite of the Eras openers.“
Someone else joined the conversation to say, “I don’t understand why people act like Olivia was ever in the running to be an Eras Tour opener. She was getting ready to go on her own arena tour and was having a huge moment that would frankly be wasted on opening someone else’s tour. It’s like thinking Taylor would open for, idk, Justin Timberlake during the Fearless era.”
Another person added, “It never made sense for Olivia to be an opener given her success, she has her own public appearances/concerts/etc to prioritize because she has the capacity for them.”
Someone else chimed in with, “Also, Olivia definitely seems to not want to be associated as ‘Taylor’s daughter in the music industry’ and is trying to separate herself from Taylor and be her own artist.”

A lot of people believe Sabrina was the perfect choice to open for Taylor‘s tour because when it was time for Taylor to make that decision, Olivia‘s career was already too explosive for her to settle in an opener position.
One of the big reasons this conversation exists in the first place is because fans have loads of curiosity about the ongoing feud between Sabrina and Olivia.
After all, it’s widely believed that “drivers license” by Olivia was written about a heartbreak involving Sabrina.
Ultimately, the decision Taylor made is over and done with, and Sabrina is now headlining her own Tour from the end of 2024 into the start of 2025.
