Tons of TV shows have been produced and released for viewers to watch, but one opinion currently rings true about all of them.

Most of these teen TV shows probably would have been better off if they were placed on college campuses instead of high school campuses.

That’s because a lot of these TV shows cover edgy topics that are often more geared for an adult audience.

Here’s a round-up of 10 shows that definitely should have focused on college students instead of teenagers.

Euphoria.

The chaos of Euphoria is the reason people are so obsessed with the hit HBO Max show, but honestly, the show would have been better if it focused on college kids all along.

Topics like substance abuse, sexual insecurities, sultry webcamming for cash, and more are just a few things that happen on this show.

The Secret Life of the American Teenager.

The Secret Life of the American Teenager was all about a 15-year-old girl who found out she got pregnant after losing her virginity at band camp. Since so much of the show was heavily centered around themes of sex, it seemed a bit over the top to have teenagers as the main characters.

Degrassi.

Degrassi will always have the respect of entertainment lovers since the show was such a success in the early 2000s.

Some of the serious issues the teens faced in Degrassi included eating disorders, school shootings, and infidelity.

It might’ve been more well-received if the characters were college kids instead.

Gossip Girl.

All the underage drinking and hooking up that occurred on Gossip Girl caused the show to receive tons of negative backlash while it was airing live on television.

Just imagine if this show was centered on college-aged young adults instead of teenagers.

13 Reasons Why.

13 Reasons Why is easily one of the most serious TV shows on this list since it focuses on a teenage girl who ended her own life after dealing with 13 different traumas that pushed her over the edge, including a sexual assault. The themes were extremely heavy for high school kids to deal with.

Pretty Little Liars.

The first episode of Pretty Little Liars alone reveals how edgy this show is. To be focused on a group of high school kids was insane!

All the main characters were being blackmailed for a slew of secrets including hooking up with a teacher, having an eating disorder, and secretly being part of the LGBTQ community.

Skins.

It’s doubtful anyone would argue that Skins wouldn’t have been a better show based on college-aged young adults instead of high school kids.

Skins was full of so much partying, underage drinking, substance abuse, and hooking up. This applies to the American version of Skins as well.

90210.

90210 was always an interesting show to watch, but that didn’t mean it made the most sense on a high school campus.

Some of the issues students had in this show gave viewers the vibe that they were already venturing into adult world when they were only 16 or 17 years old.

Outer Banks.

The shock value of Outer Banks is probably what has viewers so attached.

Still, it’s possible to show would’ve been better if it was focused on college-aged young adults instead of high school kids since the intense lifestyles they were living were not for the faint of heart.

The OC.

The adult characters in The OC were always just as intertwined in the drama as the teenage characters, which leads us to believe that the show would have been just as successful if the teenage characters were written to be college-aged instead.

What do you think of all these shows and do you feel like older characters would have made the adult themes easier to digest? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
