Is Criston Cole really worth than Joffrey Baratheon? Criston Cole comes from House of the Dragon and Joffrey Baratheon comes from Game of Thrones.
Fans of both shows are drawing comparisons between the characters since they are both quite villainess.
Interestingly enough, some viewers are starting to feel like Criston is actually much worse than Joffrey!

One social media user fired off on their hatred for Criston saying, “I never thought I’d hate anyone as much as I hated Joffrey or Ramsay, but Criston is right there for me. He is happy being Alicent’s whore, but he was so butt hurt about being Rhaenyra’s. I get that he loved her, but still. He acts out of pure spite because of the rejection and it shows. I mean, did he seriously expect the heir to run off with him and leave behind her throne and kingdom in exchange for oranges and cinnamon?”
Someone responded to that by saying, “Also, I think Criston is sleeping with Alicent just to spite Rhaenyra.”
Someone else brought attention to the realism of Criston’s toxicity in comparison to Joffrey’s saying, “Hypocrisy is a negative trait that is far more real than someone who is a mass murderer or a psychopath like Joffrey.”
Another fan chimed in with, “The show is full of spiteful hypocrites, though. I think Criston is simply more annoying than Joffrey and Ramsay for people because of recency bias and because he is a poorly developed character a lot of the time with not many actual lines to showcase any new aspect of his personality.”
The biggest and most jarring difference between Criston and Joffrey is that Criston is more of an undercover jerk while Joffrey made it abundantly clear that he was an evil person.
Criston tries to masquerade as a knight in shining armor who has pure intentions with dedicated morals and honor.
Joffrey never cared about any of that.
Joffrey loudly and openly wanted to get drunk, abuse women, disrespect his own mother, kill people, and worse.
Joffrey didn’t have an ounce of respect in his body for ANYONE leading up to his death, but he never tried to hide that fact or pretend to be something he wasn’t.
The scary thing about Criston is that he genuinely tries his best to promote a “good guy” image, even though he’s actually a scum of the earth individual.
He’s operating out of bitterness and rage over getting rejected by Rhaenrya when they were younger, and he’s unable to heal or move on from it.
The scary thing about Joffrey is that he had such a thirst and desire to be a menace. He didn’t feel guilty about hurting people because other people’s pain brought him pleasure.
Criston and Joffrey are comparable because they both get placed into positions of power, but don’t know how to handle their power in healthy ways.
Ultimately, both characters are easy to hate, but fans of House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones will likely always remain divided about which one is truly worse.
