Well before Sydney Sweeney became the recognizable name and face the world knows today, she was filming small parts for different popular TV shows.
Interestingly enough, she landed a role in Grey’s Anatomy back in 2014 for one heartwrenching episode.
Here’s what you should know about Sydney‘s time on the hit medical-themed TV series.
Sydney played the role of Erin Weaver on Grey’s Anatomy, the daughter of a sick man named Jeremy Weaver.
When Jeremy showed up at the ER with heartburn, he found out that his health condition was far more serious than he realized.
Doctors told Jeremy he needed to get some testing done, but he was in a rush to get back to work. He agreed to undergo an upper endoscopy instead.
At that point, it was revealed that Jeremy had a severe tumor. The foods he was consistently eating were causing constant acid reflux, which created the perfect environment for cancer to develop.
After Jeremy went into surgery, things took a dark turn. It was impossible to resuscitate or save him, and he died on the surgery table.
Sydney was believable as Erin, a young girl just learning the news that her father was dead.
Most episodes of Grey’s Anatomy are super serious, so the fact that Sydney was able to fit right in for this particular episode is something she very likely prepared for ahead of time.
All you have to do is watch the first few episodes from the first season of Grey’s Anatomy to catch the deeply emotional vibe of what the show is really about.
The only detail viewers know about Sydney‘s character, Erin, is that she was a volleyball player who deeply loved her father.
The seriousness of the role certainly geared Sydney up for other heavy-hitting roles she would take in the future.
We’re referring to her roles in projects like Immaculate, The Handmaid’s Tale, Reality, Euphoria, and The White Lotus.
When a particular role requires a lot of emotion, actors and actresses need to be as believable as possible.
Building your résumé as an actor or actress with smaller roles and cameo appearances is a great way to properly prepare for the future.
That seems to be exactly what Sydney did when she agreed to film this particular episode of Grey’s Anatomy.
