Love triangles are famous for never ending well. Unfortunately, even your favorite celeb are not spared the heartbreak. 

Celebrity trio — Selena Gomez, Nick Jonas, and Miley Cyrus were caught in this crossfire 16 years ago. Because it’s been almost two decades since this all happened, it’s easy to miss out on the full picture.

When word about Selena and Nick’s relationship started in 2008, both were stamping their mark on Disney Channel.

Fans thought it was a ride-or-die affair. Then suddenly, Miley entered the conversation and things between Selena and Nick took a bad spin. 

Pop culture gossipers at the time stated that Nick was dating Miley before he kicked off things with Selena.

That would’ve been in 2007. However, the split was emotionally brutal and the “Wrecking Ball” singer couldn’t get over the fact that she and Nick were done. 

Who remembers when Miley released her hit song “7 Things”? It was allegedly written about Nick.

When Selena and Nick dated afterward, Miley was reportedly jealous because she was still allegedly in love with him.

Although Selena and Nick’s relationship didn’t last long, it triggered a feud between Miley and Selena. Both girls were seemingly in love with Nick. 

The Camp Rock actor allegedly attempted to keep his relationship with Selena at the time a secret.

He went as far as creating a distance between them when they were together to prevent raising questions. His attempt didn’t work and the feud between the girls brewed even more. 

At one point, the Rare Beauty founder became the target of a video of filmed by Miley and her friend, Mandy Jiroux. The video was created to make fun of Selena and Demi Lovato.

Miley apologized for the video and admitted she regretted her actions, she later confessed her actions were never meant to cause harm. 

In the end, both girls never got the man.

Nick is now happily married to Priyanka Chopra. They tied the knot in 2018 with two wedding ceremonies. One to honor his culture, and one to honor hers.

Miley and Selena both moved on as well.

Selena is currently dating Benny Blanco and Miley is currently dating Maxx Morando.

Interestingly, Miley and Selena are on good terms today. Selena admitted that she “f–ing loved” Miley after Miley attended her 30th birthday in Malibu.

Their friendship is a reminder that when we learn to put our disputes aside, especially disputes we might have over boys, we can always have friendships that will last.
