According to Entertainment Tonight, Ariana once spoke highly of Selena after crossing paths with her at the 2016 American Music Awards.

Ariana gushed, “I just saw her come in and I hugged her so tight, she looks like a princess. I literally almost cried when I saw her. I haven’t talked to her in a long time, so I don’t know what’s going on. I’m so happy that she’s here and she’s out and about.”

At another point in time, Selena was seen singing Ariana‘s song “Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I’m Bored” while at a restaurant. Ariana reacted positively to that with an Instagram story.

It’s also been reported that Ariana helped co-write the lyrics to Selena‘s collaboration with BLACKPINK. The banger we’re referring to is “Ice Cream.”

Public interactions between Selena and Ariana seem to always be favorable. Behind-the-scenes interactions between them seem to be pretty cheery as well.

On top of that, the pop stars have a handful of cute selfies together, which means they definitely have spent time hanging out in each other‘s presence.

At the end of the day, it’s unclear if Ariana and Selena are close enough to classify as besties, but we do know that they’re on good terms with each other.

So, would they ever collaborate?

According to Billboard, Selena gushed over Ariana‘s music saying, “Here’s another song I love, Ariana Grande. ‘7 Rings.’ I cannot do anything fun without listening to Ariana. I feel so empowered and I think she is incredible, and I just have so much fun. I’m the girl that’s playing Ariana all the time, and I think people kinda notice that, but I love it! I think she’s amazing.”

Knowing that Selena has such high respect for Ariana‘s music says a lot about the possibility of a collaboration someday.

It’s certainly something their fans would be supportive of.

One social media user posted, “I think a collaboration between Ariana and Selena would be guaranteed to go number one. I’d be here for it!“

Someone else added, “I would love for them to collaborate. I don’t think there’s any issues holding them back.“
