House of the Dragon is a show that’s filled to the brim with magnificent fire-breathing creatures, and if not, the show likely wouldn’t have ended up with its name.

Since the show is called House of the Dragon, you’d think that some of the fan-favorite dragons would have gotten a little more screen time!

That wasn’t exactly the case with Sunfyre, the dragon who belongs to Aegon Targaryen.

Here’s what fans of the show are saying about Sunfyre online.

One social media user posted, “It is criminal we didn’t get more sun.”

Someone responded providing a little bit of hope to viewers everywhere writing, “Aegon may have said he was dead, but there was a line mentioned that he was recovering in the woods where he fell.”

Someone else added, “It was so sad seeing Sunfyre fall down.”

Another fan who assumes the lack of scenes came down to finances for the production company chimed in with, “It’s more cost-effective that we didn’t get more of Sunfyre, unfortunately.”

Another person hilariously and sarcastically responded by saying, “But if we had more Sunfyre scenes, then how would we make the time for more important scenes, such as Alicent taking a bath? Or Corlys inspecting the ship again and again? Or Rhaena jogging up a hill? Or Daemon F-ing his mom? Or Rhaenyra saying, ‘What would you have me do’ repeatedly?”

They went on to say, “And think of the budget! How could the show afford a canon-accurate coronation in which Aegon rides Sunfyre, when it had to invent the very important scene of Rhaenys and Meleys stomping all over the dragon pit instead? It’s not as if Sunfyre is an important dragon for the Dance or anything.”

Another fan frustratedly added, “The most beautiful dragon ever gets barely any screen time, and when he finally does it’s right before he is wrecked forever.”

Someone else who shares their sentiment commented, “I don’t want another season of this mess. I want a series about Aegon on Sunfyre wandering the realms, encountering legendary adventures, and discovering ancient secrets of different continents and countries. That’s it, that’s enough for me. Four to five seasons maybe.”

Ultimately, the big thing that has fans of the show so pissed is that Sunfyre is recognized for being one of the most aesthetically pleasing dragons ever. Yet viewers barely had a chance to lay eyes on him before tragedy struck.

Some fans believe this was strategic because the production team didn’t want viewers to fall in love with Sunfyre or anyone from House Green. If so, viewers possibly would have subconsciously started rooting for House Green.

But truthfully, whether there was more Sunfyre screen time or not, fans would have still been able to make conscious decisions about which side they were rooting for.

It’s unfortunate Sunfyre got the short end of the stick with his screen time, despite the fact that Aegon was his rider.

Fans of the show could have easily enjoyed more Sunfyre screentime while remaining objective about Aegon’s terrible leadership style.
