Are Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco officially engaged? It’s not like they’ve been dating for many years in a row now, but Selena’s fans have been excited at the prospect of her having her happily ever after for a very long time.
It probably has a lot to do with the fact that she’s been so open, honest, and vocal about the heartbreaks she experienced in past relationships with people like Justin Bieber and The Weeknd.
Ever since she went public with her love story with Benny, it seems like she’s truly en route to having the happily ever after she’s always talked about.
As a reminder, Selena is on record noting her desire to get married and start a family someday!
This newest hint from Selena and Benny serves as possible proof that they are engaged.
Selena shared an Instagram story in which she used a double pink heart to hide the ring finger on her left hand.
That’s the finger that engagement rings are often placed on, so why exactly did she choose to place an emoji over it?
The photo went up on her Instagram story on August 8th, 2024. Then, on August 9th, 2024, she shared another mirror selfie with no visible ring on that finger.
Is it possible she was wearing the ring on August 8th and took it off on the 9th? Is it possible there was never any ring at all?
It’s totally plausible that she simply placed the pink double heart emoji at the center of her pic and it just so happened to randomly line up with that placement over her hand.
An engagement announcement isn’t too far out of the question for Selena and Benny, by the way.
These two have been in each other’s lives since before 2019.
Benny used to be good friends with Selena‘s ex-boyfriend, Justin. Him and Justin were on good terms with each other for about a year before Justin and Selena even started dating.
Benny has also professionally worked with Selena‘s other ex-boyfriend, The Weeknd. He’s also linked up with Camila Cabello to make music, and Camila happens to be one of Selena’s friends as well.
In 2019, Selena and Benny collaborated on a song called “I Can’t Get Enough“ together, and it seemed to plant seeds for the future of what was to come between the two of them.
In the summer of 2023, Benny produced Selena’s son “Single Soon” and she released it for the masses to stream.
In the fall of that year, he supported her at a fund benefit for Rare Beauty.
Then, they went public with their relationship in December 2023. Since then, it’s been full steam ahead for the couple.
The pic with the strategically placed emoji is just the latest clue that they might be engaged, but it isn’t clear enough to serve as a real confirmation.
Fans will have to wait to see if Selena or Benny makes an official announcement about their plans to make it down the aisle.
