Some people are wholeheartedly convinced that Sabrina Carpenter is an industry plant.

Others feel like she’s just a genuinely talented musician who deserves to rise in the ranks in comparison to other A-list stars like Taylor Swift and Ariana Grande.

Here’s what social media users are saying online about Sabrina regarding whether or not she’s a legitimate industry plant.

Opinions about Sabrina Carpenter

One social media user who’s a bit confused about how fast Sabrina amassed so much attention commented, “I think Sabrina might be an industry plant. Am I wrong for thinking that it feels like there’s some sort of spamming going on with her news and content?”

Someone who agrees that Sabrina might be an industry plant added, “Yeah, she might be. I remember when Lady Gaga was rising and it was so obvious. Maybe I’m biased by my age or personal musical tastes, maybe times have changed, but I have no idea what Sabrina even sounds like and I can’t agree that she’s a superstar. Something isn’t true just because people say it lots of times.”

Another fan who has their suspicions chimed in with, “This is exactly what I’m feeling. I can’t help but be skeptical of all the hype because yes she has two hit songs, but so many artists do and not everyone is dubbed a superstar. It definitely feels like she’s intentionally being promoted that way.”

Not everyone thinks Sabrina is an industry plant at this stage in of her career, though.

One person wrote, “I don’t even believe in industry plants. I think people use that label are jealous and are people who don’t like them. Someone once explained what an industry plant is to me and it essentially boils down to their PR and management teams being good at their jobs.”

Another avid supporter posted, “The industry plant accusations are ridiculous; Sabrina has been grinding in the music industry for a decade. Her career took off after signing to a new record label.”

Another fan who seems totally impartial about everything joined the chat to say, “To be fair, Spotify has been HEAVILY pushing her music, auto playing her songs, and even having her music appearing in unrelated search results, and that’s what gave me and many other people the impression that her popularity was being artificially inflated. Not that she doesn’t deserve to be successful, not suggesting that at all, but there’s something working in her favor with the algorithms. Did Sabrina’s label pay for this to happen? Doubtful. Is there definitely something happening with Spotify’s algorithm to push her music heavily? Definitely seems that way.”

Ultimately, reactions from fans about whether or not Sabrina is an industry plant are a mixed bag.

No one knows for sure because it’s impossible to decipher the legitimate processes that take place behind the scenes in the Hollywood industry.
