In Season One of House of the Dragon, Rhaenyra Targaryen is played by a young actress named Milly Alcock for the first handful of episodes.
In Season Two, Emma D’Arcy fully takes over the role as the older version of Rhaenyra.
Plenty of fans have been vocal up about their appreciation regarding the hard work from both Milly and Emma.
Viewers who were highly enchanted by Milly in Season One have even launched Reddit and Twitter threads to talk about how much they miss seeing her in Season Two!
She did reappear in the form of flashbacks from Daemon Targaryen, but nothing more.

Milly Alcock’s thoughts on Rhaenyra Targaryen
According to Complex, Milly definitely feels she can relate to Rhaenyra.
She said, “I think that on a really simplistic scale, House of the Dragon is about a relationship between an especially dysfunctional family. I think that 95 percent of people live in dysfunctional families, you know? So, I could really hold onto what that was like. I think she has the strength within her that I recognized within myself. So, centering Rhaenyra’s beliefs became something I held onto and tried to project in every scene.”
It isn’t all that shocking that she recognized similar strengths in Rhaenyra that she sees in herself in the real world.
After all, Milly is the type of actress who exudes confidence and elegance.
The role of Rhaenyra isn’t something Milly’s interested in copying at any point in the future, though.
It seems that taking on such a fantastical role slightly turned her off to the genre for future projects.
According to The Independent, Milly said, “I’m not doing any fantasy roles. I don’t want to do anything like that. I have done it and I don’t need to do it again. I am just kind of waiting for the right project. I am not in a rush to jump on something.”
In other words, her time starring in House of the Dragon was a wildly eye-opening game changer for her, but it isn’t necessarily something she wants to continue pressing as she furthers her career as an actress.
The good news for Milly is that fans loved her portrayal of Rhaenyra so much that it shouldn’t be difficult for her to continue landing iconic roles in the future, whether she turns her back on fantasy entertainment altogether for good or not.
