Do you remember the time Serena took over as Gossip Girl for a short stint of time on the show? Who could forget it.

It was one of the lowest points of all for Serena throughout all six seasons of the show.

Her temporary time serving as Gossip Girl was completely toxic because it started consuming her life.

She became obsessive. It was shocking that she was willing to act ruthlessly in a position of power that had previously been used to tear her down.

Here are some of the biggest reasons why Gossip Girl fans are still so disgusted and disturbed by Serena’s stint as Gossip Girl.

One social media user posted, “Serena as Gossip Girl was a travesty. Oh my goodness, all the episodes of Serena as GG are so annoying. Especially when she gets jealous of Lola and lashes out with Gossip Girl blasts.”

Someone responded with, “Her character went to hell after she served as GG, to be honest. I hated what Serena did to her cousin Lola in that season. Lola deserved better.”

The third fan joined the conversation to say, “Serena as Gossip Girl was the only time I hated the show. She was so unlikable for that entire season. OMG.“

Another avid viewer wrote, “Serena was not smart enough to be a successful Gossip Girl. No offense to blondes but Serena was dumb AF. Jenny was blonde and she would have done better as Gossip Girl.”

Someone else added their two cents writing, “This was definitely when Serena became very unlikable. I enjoyed it when Nate and Lola called her out for it. The idea of Serena becoming Gossip Girl made a lot of sense to me though, and I think they could’ve kept it going longer. It leveled the playing field between her and Dan so they could end up together.”

It’s beyond true that Serena’s stint as Gossip Girl put her on the same level as Dan regarding their shared insidious willingness to take on such a diabolical anonymous online persona.

Another fan jokingly joined the conversation to say, “The least believable part was that Serena was capable of mimicking Gossip Girl’s writing style.”

Since Dan was originally in charge of crafting creative Gossip Girl blasts all the time, he used his literary skill set to write blasts that were witty and interesting.

Somehow, Serena did her best to match that energy while she was serving as Gossip Girl herself.

Ultimately, there are a lot of reasons why people despised this batch of episodes from the show, but the most common reason is that it turned Serena from a beloved character to a frustrating one for a while there.

To some viewers, Serena’s likability level never recovered.

But it’s true that Serena needed to experience the feeling of being drunk on power as Gossip Girl so that she could eventually end up as Dan’s wife.

That said, her time as Gossip Girl most certainly needed to be written into the show.
