Whether you work from home or you commute to an office every day, odds are, you’re dealing with some level of digital fatigue.

Let’s face it! Anyone who spends their workday staring at a laptop or computer screen automatically deals with the threat of digital fatigue.

The experts at Oakley have a lot to say about alleviating digital fatigue to improve your experience working from home. Here’s there advice.

Take blinking brakes

According to Oakley, blinking brakes are a game-changer. You should blink rapidly for about 10 seconds every 10 minutes to keep your eyes moistened.

Roll your eyes

Oakley suggests slowly rolling your eyes in a circular motion, clockwise and counterclockwise. They say that if you repeat the exercise five to 10 times, it will improve blood circulation in your eyes.

As a work-from-home individual, it’s unlikely anyone will catch you rolling your eyes. No one will take it the wrong way!

Start palming

What exactly is palming? Oakley says it’s when you rub your hands together in a vigorous manner to generate heat.

After that, gently cup your hands over your closed eyes without pushing down. From there, take several deep breaths for a couple of minutes to help yourself feel calmer.

Experiment with near-far focusing

Oakley suggests experimenting with near-far focusing by holding a pen or pencil at arm’s length.

Focus on the tip of the pen or pencil while slowly bringing it close to your nose and then stretching it back away. Repeat the process for five to 10 minutes to exercise your eye muscles.

If you want to avoid serious health conditions in the future, it’s crucial you start taking care of yourself as someone exposed to digital fatigue.

Without practicing some of these methods, you can potentially develop Computer Vision Syndrome, which leads to headaches, blurred vision, and irritated eyes.

According to Oakley, “Incorporating eye exercises into your daily routine offers several benefits for overall eye health and well-being.

“Firstly, these exercises help reduce eye strain and fatigue caused by prolonged screen time, allowing you to work comfortably for longer periods without discomfort.

“Additionally, practicing these exercises can lead to improved focus and concentration, enhancing your productivity and performance while working from home.”
