If you finished Gossip Girl in full, then you already know that Nate and Jenny did not end up together.

However, tons of diehard fans are convinced they should have been endgame!

Many people feel like the passion between Nate and Jen could have been as interesting to follow as the passion between Chuck and Blair.

Here’s a roundup of all the times their lovey-dovey relationship made us believe true love really exists.

Their first heart-to-heart chat outside of Blair’s 17th birthday party.

In an episode called Seventeen Candles, Nate and Jenny had their first heart-to-heart conversation because Nate was feeling down in the dumps about his family situation.

His father was struggling with a drug addiction on top of getting in trouble with the law for fraud and embezzlement.

Nate was super overwhelmed, and he didn’t exactly feel comfortable turning to his own girlfriend at the time for support or comfort.

Blair certainly loved him, but her occasional selfishness meant she wasn’t as nurturing as Nate needed.

Even though Blair expected him to be there to celebrate her birthday, he never made it upstairs to the party.

Instead, he hung out with Jenny outside and told her exactly how he was feeling about everything going on in his life.

Although Nate and Jenny hadn’t veered into romantic territory at that point, she proved to him that she could be there for him on an emotional level.

When Nate helped Jenny impress her social circle at Butter Restaurant.

In an episode called The Blair Bitch Project, Jenny was desperate to be in good graces with her social circle at Constance.

She already severely embarrassed herself after stealing Hazel‘s mother‘s Valentino dress. At that point, she thought her reputation would be scarred forever and there would be no chance of her ever fitting in with Blair or the rest of the minions again.

Jenny requested help from Nate to weasel her way back into the inner circle by inviting him to join her at Butter Restaurant since she knew Blair’s head minion, Penelope, had a massive crush on him.

Nate had her back that night because he showed up to hang out with the girls, even though it wasn’t exactly his scene.

When Nate got Jenny away from Agnes and Max’s photoshoot, right before kissing her.

In an episode called Pret-a-Poor-J, Jenny almost made a dire mistake. Max was a creepy photographer who tried to take nude pictures of Jenny while she was hanging out with a model named Agnes. Agnes was a terrible influence on her!

Max was clearly super attracted to Jenny because he did his best to encourage her to take off her clothes as he continued snapping more photos of the girls together.

The situation Jenny was in would have almost definitely turned into a sleazy threesome if Nate hadn’t burst in to rescue her.

After all that drama went down, Nate finally felt comfortable enough to express his true feelings to Jenny. That’s when they shared their first kiss.

It sucks that it took a bad situation to get Nate comfortable enough to open up about his feelings, but nevertheless, he opened up!

The flirtations between Nate and Jenny while he temporarily lived in the Humphrey loft.

In an episode called Chuck In Real Life, Nate was struggling to get by. His father had already been arrested, and his mother had run off to live in the Hamptons, away from the judgment of her New York City friends.

Nate was left behind to finish high school but he didn’t have a safe place to live since his home had already been raided by authorities. There wasn’t even any furniture to sleep on.

Dan Discovered that Nate was living on the floor of his home in a sleeping bag, and he invited Nate to move into the loft.

It would have been an awesome thing for Nate if his relationship with Jenny wasn’t already heating up so much.

Even though they didn’t want Dan to know they were attracted to each other, they still exchanged flirty banter, which made their mutual attraction for each other obvious.

When Nate supported Jenny during her guerrilla fashion show.

In an episode called There Might Be Blood, Nate and Jenny‘s relationship was at an all-time high. It was also the moment when their relationship hit a fork in the road.

If they’d gotten support from their friends and family about their union, there’s a huge chance they would have stayed together.

But instead, they were met with a lot of anger and resistance. Jenny crashed Bart and Lily’s event to host her guerrilla fashion show since she wanted everyone to lay eyes on her talent as a fashion designer.

Nate showed up and was super supportive of her through the event. After it ended, they shared a passionate and excited kiss.

After all, Jenny was happy that the event was a success, and Nate was super proud of her.

Imagine where their relationship could have gone if Vanessa hadn’t seen the kiss and gotten jealous. And imagine where their relationship could’ve gone if Dan hadn’t seen the kiss and kicked Nate out of the loft.

When Nate mailed Jenny a handwritten love letter.

In an episode called Remains of the J, Nate kept it real old-school and dipped back into charming and romantic tactics from before far modern technology became a thing.

Many Gossip Girl fans question why he didn’t just shoot Jenny a text or dial her number for a phone call, but others realize the true charm and romance that went into Nate taking the time to draft up a handwritten letter for the girl he had feelings for.

He knew he was leaving for the Hamptons, and he knew he wouldn’t have a chance to talk to Jenny face-to-face since Dan was so angry at him.

He opted for a handwritten letter to express his feelings in a constructive manner.

The charm and the romance were there, even though Jenny didn’t get a chance to read the letter before Vanessa intercepted it.

When Nate stepped in to be Jenny’s cotillion date at the last minute.

In an episode called They Shoot Humphreys, Don’t They?, Nate showed up like a White Knight to save the day for Jenny at Cotillion.

Eric was sabotaging Jenny at the time because he didn’t like that she was starting to act like a bully with a bad attitude on campus.

Eric missed the old Jenny. He missed who she used to be when their friendship was first developing.

Eric went out of his way to sabotage her debutant ball by trying to ruin all of her cotillion plans.

Fortunately for Jenny, Nate arrived on the scene to be her date at the last minute so she wouldn’t be embarrassed in front of the crowd.

Nate proved that he really had her best interest at heart when he took her arm at the cotillion when she was being introduced to society.

Their heart-to-heart about Jenny saving her virginity for the right guy.

In an episode called Damien Darko, Jenny was already in a toxic relationship with Damien Dalgaard.

Everything about the relationship was problematic from her willingness to sell drugs with him to the fact that he was pressuring her to have sex before she was ready.

At one point though, Jenny was seriously considering swapping her V-card with him. Nate wasn’t exactly supportive of that because he wanted to make sure she wasn’t making a crappy mistake with the wrong person.

He told her, “You’re a really special girl Jenny. You deserve a guy who’s going to see that. You know, one who’s going to be there in the morning.”

The ideal turnout for Jenny would’ve been that she had the opportunity to lose her virginity to Nate, but we all know things didn’t play out that way.

Still, it’s nice to remember the fact that Nate really wanted to protect Jenny before she got hurt.

When Nate saved Jenny from getting SA’d after she gets roofied by Agnes.

In an episode called The Empire Strikes Jack, Nate was the person who truly saved Jenny’s life.

Agnes didn’t care what happened to Jenny after she slipped drugs into Jenny’s drink.

In fact, she wanted to set Jenny up to get harmed and possibly even sexually assaulted by random men at a New York City nightclub.

Agnes was so pissed off at Jenny that she was willing to be completely evil to revel in a moment of revenge.

Fortunately for Jenny, Nate intervened and escorted her out of the nightclub, as she could barely stand up.

Jenny could barely walk on her own two feet, which means it would’ve been very easy for a random man to take advantage of her. However, Nate was there to block that from happening like a true White Knight in shining armor.

When Jenny fought for Nate’s heart on his birthday.

In an episode called Inglourious Bassterds, Jenny went balls to the wall trying to fight for Nate‘s attention.

Most Gossip Girl fans will say Jenny was completely out of line for trying to seduce Nate while he was with Serena, but others would say that Jenny was simply fighting for a chance at a relationship with the one guy who always treated her with respect.

Compared to other exes Jenny dated on Gossip Girl, she was never treated with gentleness, patience, or love.

Nate was the guy who made her feel like she had value. Therefore, she fought for him, even while he was in a relationship with Serena.

Her methods were surely questionable, but there was a method to her madness.

She had genuine feelings for Nate, and she was willing to put everything on the line to prove that to him. However wrong she might’ve been for going about it that way, no one can deny that she made a valiant effort to fight for that relationship.
