Whether you want to admit it or not, Jenny Humphrey deserved SO MUCH better on Gossip Girl than what she got.
Jenny’s treatment on the show was totally unfair and even bordered on sexist when we think of the different parenting techniques Rufus Humphrey used on Dan versus Jenny.
And what about the way she was treated in the fashion world by Eleanor Waldorf and Agnes Andrews?
Or the way she was treated by her Upper East Side rich girl “friends”?
Or the way she was treated by any of her boyfriends and hookups? All in all, Jenny got the short end of the stick. Let’s talk about it.
Jenny’s family screwed her over.
Rufus allowed Dan to do whatever he wanted to a certain extent. Jenny, on the other hand, never received as much freedom.
It’s not like she wanted to use drugs or hookup with tons of boys. All she wanted to do was design clothes, but Rufus just couldn’t handle it.
Rufus got to pursue his dreams of launching a successful music career when he was young, but he refused to grant Jenny the same support.
It got so bad that she started the process of emancipation from her parents, which was a totally valid and reasonable response to your parents trying to crush your dreams as they’re about to blossom.
Jenny was already opening doors professionally that would have guaranteed her successful career in the fashion industry, but Rufus continually tried to stomp out her flame.
The way he allowed Dan to freely do what he wanted in comparison was damn near diabolical.
Jenny’s mother ditched her and the rest of the family for her new boyfriend in Hudson. Plus, Dan was posting Jenny’s secrets on the internet for the world to see since he was masquerading as Gossip Girl the whole time.
Even if Jenny knew his secret all along, the fact that her older brother turned out to be such a creep is still pretty difficult to stomach.
Jenny deserved so much better than the treatment she got!

One diehard Jenny fan took to Reddit to share their thoughts saying, “I will defend Jenny Humphrey until I die.
“In my opinion Jenny is the most unfairly hated on character in the show and every time someone says she’s their least favorite character or the most annoying, I feel an uncontrollable sense of rage.
“Jenny was the youngest person in the group and she viewed these people she looks up to like Blair with a pair of rose colored glasses or whatever.
“All she ever wanted was to fit in and be liked but the person she most wanted to be like bullied her and everyone got mad when she fought back. Jenny was a product of her circumstances.”
Someone responded with, “To me, Jenny will always be the most human and realistic character. Her complexity is what makes her my fave.”
