Blair made a lot of mistakes on Gossip Girl between Season 1 and Season 6. Some of her mistakes were easy to forgive, while others were impossible to let go of. Blair might be considered everyone’s favorite princess from the Upper East Side, but here’s a list of the 10 biggest F-ups she made along the way.
First, When Blair accused Rachel of an inappropriate student-teacher relationship with Dan before she had all the facts.
Blair got really lucky when it turned out that teacher Rachel really was pursuing sex with Dan, knowing Dan was high school student. Blair made the assumption and spread the rumor to protect herself, but she didn’t exactly know that it was true when she first urged her lawyer father to get involved. When Blair’s father found out that Blair started the rumor about Rachel and Dan’s student-teacher affair before knowing it was actually true, he was honestly disgusted! Blair‘s dad couldn’t wrap his head around the fact that his daughter could be so manipulative.
Second, When Blair banished Jenny from Manhattan.
Some people will say Jenny’s banishment from Manhattan was totally warranted since she hooked up with Chuck, but others would say that Blair took it way too far. It was a huge F-up on Blair’s part to banish Jenny since Jenny was one of the most entertaining and interesting Gossip Girl characters to keep up with. Although Jenny was in her villain era every other day, she always brought the juiciest drama! When Blair banished her, it meant all Jenny-related drama would cease to exist. That was a huge F-up, honestly.
Third, When Blair married Prince Louis while knowing she was in love with Chuck.
Blair was so obsessed with the idea of becoming a legitimate princess that she was willing to press forward with marriage to Prince Louis, even though it definitely wasn’t meant to be. She knew all along that she had deep feelings for Chuck, but she continually tried to ignore those feelings so she could have her fairytale ending. It all came to a head on her wedding day with Prince Louis when a Gossip Girl blast went out with a clip of Blair admitting that she was still in love with Chuck for everyone in the wedding audience to hear. For a short stint, Blair thought she’d be trapped in a loveless marriage with Prince Louis since he was so angry and betrayed by her.
Fourth, When Blair strung Dan along knowing she was destined to be with Chuck.
Dan had genuine feelings for Blair, no matter how you want to slice it. Sure, he ended up marrying Serena, but many Gossip Girl fans would argue that Dan totally settled for Serena when he wanted to end up with Blair all along. The fact that Blair strung Dan along knowing full well they were never going to end up together was a bit painful and cruel. There was no real reason for Blair to start dating Dan in the first place when she knew deep down that Chuck was always going to have her heart.
Fifth, When Blair told everyone Serena was in the Ostroff Center for a drug problem.
A huge F-up from Blair came in the form of outing Serena for a rumor that wasn’t even true. Serena was only spotted leaving the Ostroff Center because she was visiting her little brother, Eric, after his self-unaliving attempt. Blair caught wind of Serena visiting the Ostroff Center and decided to announce to everyone that Serena had a drug problem in Season One of the show. It was beyond shady and incredibly bitchy. Blair definitely assumed the worst about Serena at that stage in their friendship.
Sixth, When Blair tried to sabotage her mother’s marriage to Cyrus.
Blair did not want to see her mother tie the knot the night with Cyrus, so she went out of her way to try and ruin the relationship. When she sat down with Cyrus alone, she learned the nitty-gritty details of one of his past relationships. With all of the context from Cyrus, it was clear that he made a heartbreaking decision that wasn’t rainbow or butterflies from any angle. The decision he made still wasn’t prood that he was a terrible person. However, when Blair relayed the message to her mother, she made Cyrus sound like he was a scumbag! Fortunately, Eleanor and Cyrus still worked it out, regardless of Blair’s temporary pettiness.
Seventh, When Blair told the folks at the Yale party that Serena killed Pete Fairman.
One secret that made Serena feel overwhelmingly guilty over for such a long time in her life revolved around Pete’s overdose. Blair used that to her advantage to humiliate Serena in front of a bunch of Yale professors, students, and other staff members. Blair announced that Serena was the one who killed Pete in front of some highly important people. The level of cruelty from Blair in that instance was a major F-up. It’s not surprising that Blair didn’t end up getting accepted at Yale after all the mean girl shenanigans she pulled.
Eighth, When Blair bullied Dan, Jenny, and Vanessa for living in Brooklyn.
Blair was the queen of judging people based on their wealth, status, and living situations. For the most part, she only wanted to associate with wealthy individuals on the Upper East Side. She felt like anyone outside of Manhattan was beneath her. Since Dan, Jenny, and Vanessa all lived in Brooklyn, Blair constantly bullied them for not being as wealthy as she was. This was an F-up for Blair, because it made her come across one of the most shallow characters on the entire show.
Ninth, When Blair went on a self-sabotage spiral with Carter.
For a minute there, Blair really didn’t care about her future in the slightest. She went on a self-sabotage bender filled with underage drinking and hooking up with a guy who most definitely didn’t have her best interest. Carter never took Blair seriously, and he only weaseled his way into her life to get laid. He was looking for some temporary fun, and he used Blair to get it. Blair had no business letting someone like Carter into her pants. Major F-up.
Tenth, When Blair sabotaged Nelly.
It was cruel and unusual when Blair tried to ruin Nelly’s chances of getting into Yale. she manipulated Nelly to be distracted with drama regarding Nelly‘s ex-boyfriend when Nelly was supposed to be studying for the SATs. Blair always knew how to stir the pot, and the way she sabotaged Nelly was one of the worst things she did. This F-up wasn’t even a successful one for Blair since Nelly got into Yale still and Blair did not.
Eleventh, When Blair was willing to ruin her own mother’s fashion show.
Blair was so obsessed with the idea of embarrassing Jenny that she was willing to throw her own mother under the bus. Eleanor had a fashion show to worry about, and she enlisted help from Jenny to make it happen. Blair hated to see that, so she did everything she could to ruin the show’s success so she could pin the failure on Jenny. This F-up from Blair was incredibly selfish because she didn’t care about hurting her mom and her process of trying to hurt Jenny.
Twelfth, When Blair asked Chuck to seduce Vanessa as part of a game.
Blair proved that she was borderline heartless when she told Chuck to toy with Vanessa in the bedroom as part of their own sick foreplay. Sure, Blair was annoyed at Vanessa for her own separate reasons, but the fact that she got Chuck involved to convince Vanessa to get intimate was so incredibly toxic! Chuck did indeed hookup with Vanessa, and it left Blair feeling jealous. Major F-up, if you ask us!
Thirteenth, When Blair framed Eva for being a gold digger.
It’s possible Blair thought she’d be able to reconcile with Chuck right away after edging Eva out of the picture, but that was one F-up she didn’t think all the way through. Blair tried to frame Eva by putting Chuck’s passport in Eva‘s luggage to make it look like Eva knew Chuck’s identity and was only using him for his money. When Chuck found out that Blair set up the plot, he was so pissed off that he waged war against Blair! Eva was never a gold digger, and since Blair butchered Eva and Chuck’s relationship, Chuck was enraged.
Fourteenth, When Blair used Marcus solely to make Chuck jealous.
While it’s true that Marcus was never really a good boyfriend to Blair anyway because he was secretly hooking up with his own stepmother, Blair still did him dirty. The fact that Blair used him as a pawn to make Chuck squirm with jealousy was undeniably wrong. Blair treated Marcus like he wasn’t a living, breathing human being with feelings. Their breakup was so warranted when it finally came.
Fifteenth, When Blair fought against Vanessa for a chance to give a college toast.
Vanessa had a valid reason for wanting to give a toast at NYU. She knew her mother didn’t approve of higher education or organized institutions, so she wanted to approve a point to her judgmental mom. Blair, on the other hand, had no real reason to give a toast at Yale. She simply wanted to show off and prove that she was important enough to be selected. It was an F-up on Blair’s part to do that to Vanessa since it never benefited her in any big way to give that toast, yet she continually tried to ruin things for Vanessa the whole time anyway.
Which of these F-ups from Blair do you think was the most toxic on Gossip Girl? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.
