In recent years, the term self-care has exploded; it’s now thrown in the air like confetti.
Self-care this.. self-care that , and we are not saying that it’s a bad thing.
What exactly is self-care? Self care is basically engaging in rituals that nurture you emotionally, physically, spiritually and intellectually.

Yes ladies, it’s more than a skincare routine or fancy candles.
Self-care is supposed to be awesome, and the main goal is to feel good, but this is not the case for everybody.
Why self care is making you feel worse
If it feels like a chore.
Instead of a fulfilling experience self-care starts to feel like a chore.
We pick up all these fancy self-care routines from social media and try to implement them in our lives without asking ourselves if this ritual resonates with who and where we at in life
And soon it starts to feel like a chore/job
It’s a competition.
In an age of social media and aesthetics, your skincare routine starts to become an Instagram-worthy vlog of a fancy, schmoozy 12-part skincare routine.
Not to mention the bite in your pocket for splurging on some supposedly “it candles”.
Or a vacation that you can’t afford.
You’re stressed about getting it right.
Mmh… relax. We repeat… just relax. That is what self-care is about.
There’s no passmark. You don’t have to be a perfectionist when, i.e doing adult coloring.
Relax and enjoy it.
Your routine is not tailored to you.
You have to determine what a nice self-care routine would look like for you.
Choose activities that actually make you happy and relaxed or more feminine or masculine.
If you want an elaborate skincare routine, fine; regular hiking, sip&paint classes, that’s also fine.

How to create a healthy self-care routine
- Find what works for you.
- Give yourself grace; some days, you will be willing to do more than other days.
- Ditch the noise and drop the aesthetics.
- Allow your self-care to evolve as you do.
