Negative drama surrounding Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds is at an all-time high right now.

Here’s what you should know about a bit of their shared and mutual toxicity.

Why was ‘Green Lantern’ so terrible?

One of the most important ways to assert yourself and your partner as a power couple is by being successful in your own sphere.

We should have seen the signs from the beginning between Blake and Ryan.

‘Green Lantern’ was supposed to be a hit. The superhero genre was really starting to take off.

However, the film failed, miserably. After having a roughly $200 million budget, the film only made about $230 million around the world.

When you take the marketing and extras that come along with a movie, the film didn’t turn a profit for the production company.

It’s almost as if the universe was trying to tell us to look out for the two in the future.

It’s not like either one of them are bad actors.

They’re both attractive and had a decent fan base at that point.

There’s literally no legitimate reason the film should have done that bad.

When you’re a power couple, this just isn’t acceptable.

You’re supposed to bring your successes to the table and shine even brighter, not be dimmed down by each other.

Fans have shared their thoughts on the movie in a Reddit thread:

  • Eh. Not a fan of Reynolds or his take on Hal Jordan. Hal is not as comedic as Reynolds is. He should’ve played Wally West or maybe Booster Gold.
  • Hal Jordan was not a funny or quirky man. Reynolds delivered a totally Reynoldsesque performance and what we all expected from him at the time. Terrible casting for Hal and crappy villain. I liked Strong as Sinestro and Duncan as Kilowog. Green Lantern is my favorite DC character, this film was a disservice.
  • He was poorly cast. A pity because apart from him I was pretty happy with the casting. He tried, but he had such a poor script to work with and of course his real personality just can’t help but poke through, and that isn’t Hal.
