Fashion is killing the planet. Many would consider this an absurd statement, but when you look at the facts, it’s true.
Fast fashion is one of the leading causes of pollution due to the excessive manufacturing in coal-based plants.
However, there are still ways we can all help lessen the devastating effect of fast fashion. Here are a few ways to beat fast fashion
Buy from sustainable brands

This option may be a little pricey depending on the brand. Their value comes from how many times you can wear the garment.
Sustainable fashion brands focus on durability and timelessness whereas fast fashion focuses on cheap materials/disposability and trends.
Make your own clothes and upcycle

This option is for those who are creative, skilled at sewing, and/or want to learn a new hobby. If you make your own clothing, you can have unique pieces that are fit specifically for you. If some of your other clothing is getting old and boring, you can upcycle it!
Repair Clothing

You can help your clothes last longer by repairing small damages. Just sewing a button or torn seam can make a significant difference.
Thrifting

This is probably one of the most popular options on the list. If done strategically, you can find very high-value and even luxurious items. Thrifting gives clothing a second chance instead of ending up in landfills.
