When watching Gossip Girl, one thing that’s easy to notice is the way Dan acts like a second dad to Jenny.
Why TF does he do that? These are our thoughts.
Dan’s toxic “dad” vibes with Jenny

Jenny and Rufus Humphrey had a complicated relationship following early episodes of Gossip Girl.
Jenny didn’t want to feel controlled by her father and instead wanted her own autonomy.
The only time she felt she had this was when she was at school and he couldn’t say or do anything to her.
However, as time progressed, Dan began acting like a second father and almost reported back to Rufus about how Jenny was acting.
Jenny felt like she needed to try extra hard to fit in with her classmates, as they all came from the Upper East Side and she was from Brooklyn.
Dan took it upon himself to make Jenny’s life much harder at school, with then made Jenny act out even more than she originally was.
Dan liked feeling powerful and in control of people, especially women, in his life.
This likely stemmed from his issues with his mother leaving. Dan continued to talk down to Jenny up until the moment she left the show.
The worst part is that Jenny tried her hardest to talk to Dan and make him calm down a little.
This insulted Dan and made him take it to the next level.
Dan was arguably still a good brother to Jenny, but the way he treated her could have been a lot nicer.
