Creativity is one of those gifts that our creator bestowed on each of us. It was a necessity for human sanity. We have been creating since the beginning of time.

Some people will be like, “I am not creative; I am just an accountant.”

Wrong! We all can create regardless of whether our careers are in the visual or performing arts.

The way we like to view it “creativity is a way of life.” It’s that pull to create something from nothing.

Many people have written about creativity, but our favorite book is “Big Magic” by Elizabeth Gilbert, which encourages us to embrace creativity as this spiritual entity that seeks a human collaborator.

Our main focus today is to remind you how creative living, whether professionally or as a hobby, can bring fulfillment.

This is what creativity does:

Fosters presence

There’s nothing quite like creating to get you in a state of mindfulness.

Or as the devotee creatives call it, “a state of flow.”

Whether you are cooking a new recipe, playing an instrument, or gardening.

Massive life lessons

Learning a new creative skill will teach you loads if you pay attention.

It’s like dipping your toes in a pool and you have no idea whether it will be cold or warm.

It might surprise you even and be hot.

When you begin creating something, you have no idea whether it will turn out great or horrible, but the point is you learn regardless.

You learn patience and trust in the process; you let go of perfectionism.

Self-expression

The process of creating something  (notice we don’t say art , because creating extends beyond art) can be a form of self expression and emotional outlet.

Ultimately you find joy

The realization of holy sh*t “I made this” didn’t exist before my involvement, at least not in its final State.

This, my friends, is the joy of creativity, whether it’s something physical, visual,l, or even a beautiful idea.

The creative powers we have might remain a mystery for a while, but it’s no doubt one of humanity’s best resources.

From today onwards, don’t be afraid to make stuff; let go of this idea that creativity is only reserved for certain endowed individuals because it certainly isn’t.
