Dan was always the king of double standards on Gossip Girl.

As a reminder, he didn’t forgive Vanessa for what she did to Serena, but he forgave Jenny.

We get that Jenny’s his little sis, but come on.

Dan was the double standard KING

Even though Dan went out of his way to hurt Serena whenever he felt like it was necessary to even the playing field, he wouldn’t forgive anyone else who did.

Well, anyone other than Jenny.

Vanessa played a role in getting back at Serena, alongside Jenny and Juliet Sharp.

It got to the point where Vanessa felt guilty and had to back out of what was taking place.

Serena ended up waking up in a random motel, feeling as though she had been drugged and taken advantage of.

When Vanessa and Jenny came forward, Dan forgave Jenny but became incredibly hostile towards Vanessa.

He couldn’t fathom why Vanessa would want to hurt Serena and he cut her off because of it.

Dan truly thought he was better than Vanessa by the way he reacted to her hurting Serena.

Vanessa shouldn’t have been let off scot-free, just to be clear.

But Dan acting like he had never hurt Serena and blaming Vanessa for everything that happened is nothing more than cruel or toxic.

Vanessa deserved so much better than having any of the Humphrys in her life.
