When Nate followed his father’s footsteps and committed fraud at The Spectator, it was shocking AF, to say the least.

Why did Nate have to emulate his criminal father?

One of the wildest stories to follow on Gossip Girl was Nate’s father being investigated and fully arrested as a criminal.

While the only crime he committed was fraud, one would think that watching what happened to his father would make Nate avoid committing the same crime.

You’d be wrong, though.

While running The Spectator, Nate made the choice to change the books to keep investors happy.

This wasn’t the only thing Nate could do to help the paper, but it’s what he decided to do when push came to shove.

Nate was forced to be saved before being charged with the same crime as his father.

Nate held his father to such a high standard and was incredibly disappointed when he found out the truth about him.

It felt like Nate would do anything and everything in his power to avoid turning out like the man he once held on a pedestal.

Luckily for Nate, he didn’t face any charges, as everything was fixed before he got in real trouble.

This experience opened up Nate’s eyes to what the real world is like and how you don’t have the same leash you do in high school and even college.

Fortunately, Nate didn’t stay on the degenerate path for long and decided to turn things around before fully ending up like his old man.
