Nate acted like a second father to Jenny – and it was the worst thing ever on Gossip Girl.

In our opinion, he never actually treated Jenny like a romantic peer he could take seriously.

The absurdity of Nate and Jenny

At the beginning of this list, we talked about how toxic it was for Nate to pursue Jenny because of his friendship with Dan.

However, once Jenny and Nate were actually in a relationship together, Nate became an incredibly toxic partner to Jenny.

One of the reasons Jenny was always so antsy and on edge was because of the way her father treated her.

Jenny figured that dating would be the best way to escape her father’s hypocritical attitude towards her and her brother.

She was dead wrong when it came to Nate, though.

Since Nate was older, he felt as though he could direct her in the ways he felt were right.

Nate also had to save Jenny once or twice during her time living in Brooklyn, which made him feel as though Jenny couldn’t take care of herself.

Nate was always thrusting himself into Jenny’s business, making sure she wasn’t doing anything wrong.

This relationship was doomed from the very start.
