Like any other cosmetic development, K18 treatments shook up the hair care industry. Every influencer was like, “You should use this for perfect hair.”
K18 is a treatment that utilizes a bioactive peptide (K18) to restore and reverse damaged hair.
But as black women, we have questions: Does it work for our hair types?
No, really, does it?
Luckily, we stumbled upon Dr.Sehi Sarah, who teaches her audience about caring for type 4 hair.

With proper usage K18 can really transform your hair journey for the better
Dr.Sehi discloses that she started using K18 leave in treatment but certain instructions didn’t sit right with her and wouldn’t work on her type 4 hair.
The leave-in K18 treatment is applied to product-free hair and instructs that one shouldn’t use a conditioner.
Basically, use the product, then go into styling.
However, most black women reported having experienced dryness and breakage while following the instruction manual.
Needless to say, our curls love good hydration.
So here’s how Dr.Sehi uses the K18 leave-in formula for stronger and healthier hair.
Clean hair and scalp
Wash your hair using a clarifying shampoo to remove any build This will enable the product to penetrate all the way to your scalp.
Towel dry
Dr. Sehi says that you should towel dry your hair until it’s about 70% dry, slightly damp.
Apply K18
Dr. Sehi, who has type 4 hair, sections her hair into four parts, and she uses one generous pump of K18 for each section.
She advises you to rub the product on your palms for even distribution.
Wait it out
She then waits for four minutes to allow the product to penetrate her hair.
Condition
After four minutes she applies a good conditioner to replenish the hydration and elasticity.
Although she doesn’t mention her steps afterward, our guess is that she’s on to styling.
