When you first see Halle Bailey, her dazzling smile and soothing voice come across as an innocent woman.

However, nobody is perfect.

Even the dreamy Halle has had some moments throughout her career that could be considered scandalous or controversial.

First, Halle’s chaotic off-and-on relationship with her baby daddy, DDG.

There’s something cringy and awkward about watching a relationship consistently implode right in front of your face.

It’s even worse when the relationship is out for all of the public to see. That’s just what Halle and her baby daddy, DDG, go through.

For what it’s worth, Halle consistently makes the choice to go back to DDG, even though he’s taken countless unnecessary shots at her throughout their relationship.

Halle is an A-list celebrity and DDG is at best a C-list rapper. Any level-headed man wants to see his partner succeed.

For DDG, watching Halle succeed while he struggled to reach her levels of fame wasn’t good.

He talked about how he never saw The Little Mermaid, even though Halle was in the movie.

Again, Halle continued to take this treatment and even got pregnant by DDG.

The pair are now tied together for the rest of their lives, whether they want to be or not.

For whatever it’s worth, DDG appears to be at least a good father. Or, at least that’s what he posts of himself on social media.

Keeping up with Halle and DDG is one of the most challenging things. Don’t expect it to get any easier as time progresses.  

Second, Halle’s awkward onstage moment with Tyla at the 2024 VMAs.

Winning a VMA is one of the highest honors in music.

Well, the 2024 edition of the awards came with a smidge of controversy between Halle and Tyla.

Halle and Lil Nas X were presenting the award for best Afrobeat, which Tyla won for the song Water.

When she came to receive the award, she said into the microphone “Oh my gosh. You guys know me and holding awards. I am not strong enough.”

She then tried to pass the award off to either Lil Nas X or Halle, which some folks felt was a shot at Halle.

They felt like Tyla was pitying Halle and wanted to give her the award.

Halle didn’t take the award from Tyla, which others felt like was insulting by Halle to do.

Here’s the thing, both girls are roughly the same size. If Tyla couldn’t carry the two-pound award, Halle couldn’t either.

Both girls later came out and said that there was nothing going on, but that doesn’t take away the awkward moment that was caught on camera between the pair.

Also, side note, if Tyla really isn’t strong enough to carry the award, then she should hit the weight room.

Because holding that award isn’t challenging in the slightest. 

Tyla saying something like this is weird and not cute in the slightest.

It’s giving you can’t take care of yourself and NEED someone around for you to be okay.

Third, Halle’s rumored feud with Rubi Rose.

Watching celebrities beef with each other is fun for fans.

However, it can be jarring and emotionally damaging to those involved. Prior to dating Halle, DDG was with Rubi Rose.

While it’s normal for people to have exes, it’s not normal for someone to regularly DM their ex while they’re with their new partner.

It’s especially not normal for this to take place when you’re in the public spotlight.

Well, that’s not the case with DDG. Rubi released screenshots of DDG clearly DMing her, making it seem as though he missed her and wanted her back.

Halle defended DDG and didn’t make a big deal about what took place.

This made her look like a weak duck and she’s truly willing to settle for so little.

Halle also called out Rubi for causing trouble and chaos in their relationship for no reason.

Here’s the thing. Any normal person would want to hear about their partner DMing someone, especially if it’s their ex.

Halle should be thankful Rubi told her about what’s going on.

Should Rubi have made it more private? Sure.

But Rubi said what she needed to and didn’t continue the conversation at all. 

Fourth, Halle’s hidden and secretive pregnancy era of 2023, similar to Kylie Jenner.

There are millions of folks out there who dream of being pregnant one day and starting a family.

They wait and wait to hear the news before screaming and shouting it out for the world to hear.

However, Halle decided her pregnancy should be hidden from the world.

As a celebrity, she’s well within her right to do that.

Unlike the common person, Halle has tons of fans clamoring to find out her every move.

She wanted to keep one of the most intimate details about her private life actually private.

Halle was also coming off of filming The Little Mermaid and was seemingly at the peak of her powers.

There’s a chance she was embarrassed to be pregnant with DDG’s child, especially with how he’s treated her in the past.

However, the rumors spread like wildfire about Halle and her pregnancy. She only confirmed them once her son, Halo, was officially born.

Again, she’s well within her right to keep her private life private. But something like this should be celebrated.

It truly felt as though Halle was embarrassed about the situation. 

Fifth, Halle was heavily critiqued for being cast as Ariel in The Little Mermaid, but she faced the backlash like a champ.

We are now going to venture to something that Halle couldn’t control, but still had to face.

When she was cast as Ariel in The Little Mermaid, tons of folks came out from the woodwork about their displeasure in Halle getting the role.

They said that Ariel was white in the original Disney movie and that casting Halle was doing the role a disservice.

The strange part about that was that odds are, none of the people complaining were probably going to watch the movie anyways.

Halle showed her brave and kind side, though, as she didn’t encourage any of the online trolls who were coming after her.

Instead, she shook off all the hate and delivered quite the performance. Fans were in awe of her voice and singing abilities.

She was forced to be absolutely perfect on set and during the promotion of the movie.

By delivering on this, she proved that she was ready for nearly anything that Hollywood threw her way. 

Sixth, The time Halle abandoned her vegan diet and pissed off the vegan community.

Using a vegan diet is one of the most popular ways to consume food around the world.

Some folks are vegan for the health benefits, while others do so because of their love of animals.

Either way, those who are vegan typically make it a large part of their personality.

Halle was once upon a time a vegan, but it didn’t last forever.

There’s nothing wrong with trying a diet and realizing you want something different in your life.

However, fellow vegans didn’t particularly appreciate Halle leaving the lifestyle.

They were annoyed at her and they came after her.

However, much like the hate she recieved for playing Ariel, Halle brushed it off and came out on the other side.

Nobody should feel guilty about leaving the vegan diet because they’re wanting to eat other food. 

Seventh, Halle’s abrupt and sudden departure from Grown-ish.

Being on a television show is far different than being on a movie.

During a television show, fans watch their favorite characters develop over the seasons.

Viewers become attached and want to see what happens next.

However, Halle didn’t want to see where her character went on the hit show Grown-ish.

Instead, she wanted to focus on bigger and better projects.

For whatever it’s worth, it’s completely understandable that Halle wanted to put herself first and was selfish in this circumstance.

It was clear Grown-ish wasn’t going to last forever and she wanted to capitalize on the name she had made for herself.

However, some fans of the show are upset that her character up and left, while her sister’s character stayed on the show.

The pair were supposed to be a track star duo who were competing for the Olympics.

Fans didn’t get to see what happened with them, but it’s clear Halle’s career took off once she left the program. 

Eighth, Halle’s been accused of photoshop fails on social media.

Social media has taken over the younger Millennials and Gen-zers minds.

If your life isn’t up to the standard you see on other creators’ pages, then you’re living life all wrong.

Now, you’d think a celebrity would have their life in order.

You’d likely assume that their page was filled with adventures and showing off the lifestyle they’d worked hard for.

You’d also believe that no celebrity would have to fake their way of life on social media simply to appease their own ego.

You’d be wrong, though. Halle has been accused of photoshoping some of her social media posts.

The craziest part is a lot of these photoshop fails are incredibly easy to spot.

It’s almost as if she, and other celebrities who have found themselves in this predicament, don’t think the regular person is smart enough to notice every little detail.

Well, that’s simply not the case.

Internet sleuths spend their time and energy going through and nitpicking every photo they can, trying to tear down each celebrity that they know they’ll never reach.

If Halle were to continue editing some of her photos, she’d need to pay closer attention to the detail.

Otherwise, the sharks will be out and continue attacking her. 

Ninth, The aggressively constant comparisons of Halle against her big sister, Chloe Bailey.

There’s something special about having a family member who’s also a celebrity.

They understand the scrutiny you go through and the grind it took to get where you’re at.

You always have someone to bounce ideas off of and can confide your secrets with them.

There’s also some negatives that go along with this. Halle and her sister, Chloe Bailey, have found this out firsthand over the years.

Both women are incredibly talented actresses and have astounding voices.

However, since both are so close to each other skill wise, it’s brought out the critics to decide which sister is better.

It’s almost as if we as a society refuse to allow two people who are related to win at the same time.

We feel this need to declare a winner and show which one is better.

Chloe and Halle are constantly compared to each other, but those have somewhat slowed down ever since Halle gave birth.

She’s more focussed on being a mother right now than anything else. Her son deserves that from her.

There’s no telling what her future holds, but it’s safe to say fans want to see Halle again at some point down the line. 

Tenth, The consistent mixups between Halle Bailey and Halle Barry.

Having nearly the same name as Halle Barry growing up was likely fun for Halle.

However, as time has progressed, tons of fans mix her and Halle Barry up. Now this might not seem like a big deal, but it kind of is.

Her legacy is almost certainly going to be linked to Halle Barry forever, and not by her own choice.

It’s not like Michael Jordan and Michael B. Jordan. These two men became famous in different disciplines, so it’s easy to understand which is which.

Since Halle Bailey and Halle Barry are both actresses, they don’t have that distinguishability.

Both are also African American women, which means they’re under intense scrutiny.

Racist folks around the country will likely always make jokes about their names and saying they don’t know who is who.

However, Halle Bailey has handled this like a true professional. She’s never been caught saying anything out of like or insane.

She’s held both names to a high standard and delivered.
