New research has revealed the states looking to cheat on their partners the most, with Colorado taking the top spot.
The research, conducted by instacams.com, analyzed the search volume for over 80 different dating apps in the U.S. during each month of 2024. They looked specifically at searches for Ashley Madison, the married dating app, and calculated its average number of monthly Google searches per 100,000 citizens in each state. They ranked the states with the highest rate of searches to reveal which ones are most likely to cheat on their partner.

New Hampshire is next, with 357 average monthly Google searches for Ashley Madison per 100,000 citizens. The app ranks second in the state, with a total of 5,009 average monthly searches.
Illinois ranks fourth, with 355 average monthly searches per 100,000 people. Ashley Madison is the state’s second most searched dating app, with 44,593 average monthly searches overall.
Nebraska follows, with 350 average monthly Google searches for the married dating app per 100,000 residents. This is equal to 6,915 average monthly searches overall, with Ashley Madison ranking as the state’s second most popular dating app.
Montana places sixth, with 342 average monthly searches per 100,000 citizens. The state searches for Ashley Madison an average of 3,874 times per month overall.
Washington is seventh, with an average of 341 monthly Google searches per 100,000 people, which is equivalent to 26,633 monthly searches overall.
Massachusetts ranks eighth, with 339 average monthly Google searches for Ashley Madison per 100,000 residents. This is an average of 23,764 monthly searches in the state overall.
Connecticut takes ninth place, with 335 average monthly searches per 100,000 people, or 12,123 average monthly searches overall.
New York rounds out the top ten, with an average of 331 monthly Google searches per 100,000 citizens. This is equal to 64,868 average monthly searches in total.
On the other hand, the state least likely to cheat on their partners is Mississippi, with an average of 142 monthly Google searches for Ashley Madison per 100,000 citizens. Closely following are Alaska and Louisiana, with 173 and 178 average monthly searches per 100,000 people, respectively.

“It is interesting to see which states are searching for Ashley Madison the most. The controversial app is made specifically for married people looking to have an affair, so its popularity may come as a surprise to some. It is the third most popular dating app in the U.S. overall, after Tinder and BLK.
“This research goes to show that there is a widespread interest in having an affair among married people in the U.S., with almost one million searches for the platform every month.”
