The relationship between Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco is on the up and up, but what about their social media presence?

It turns out that Selena has been losing followers while Benny has been gaining them. What’s going on with that?

Selena and Benny’s Instagram follower counts are shifting

Since 2025 began, Selena has lost more than 1.7 million followers on the gram.

A combination of things could be the culprit.

She posted a video of herself crying over nasty deportations, and that rubbed some of her red voting fans the wrong way.

She also shared a snippet of the song she collaborated on with Benny on Valentine’s Day, and some fans were Turned off by the song because they thought like it was boring.

Benny, on the other hand, has gained more than 100,000 followers on IG.

It turns out that simply being connected to Selena has been amazing for his image.

His social media presence has largely stayed the same since before he started dating Selena, but he also posts pics and vids with her every once in a while as well.

Jack Genesin, director of Jack Genesin Consulting, commented on the findings, “While Selena Gomez has been very active and involved in different projects this year, unfortunately, she’s been facing a lot of social media backlash.

“She has lost over 850,000 followers in February and more than 1.7 million since January, which can be linked to the public’s dissatisfaction with some, or many, of her recent actions.

“However, it’s interesting to see that while Selena Gomez’s follower count has been declining since the beginning of the year, her fiancé, Benny Blanco, has gained 108,075 new followers in the same period.

“This could mean that even though the public’s initial reaction to their relationship wasn’t the most positive — with internet trolls taking it too far and referring to them as ‘Beauty and the Beast’ — fans have started to warm up to Blanco after his many displays of love and affection toward Gomez.”
