Analysis of Google Trends data shows that U.S. searches for “dot nails” soared after Sydney Sweeney was spotted sporting her new reverse polka-dot manicure.
Beauty and wellness marketplace Fresha reports that searches for “dot nails” have skyrocketed 190% over the past 12 months, while interest in “polka dot summer” has climbed even higher to 218%.
In a recent Instagram post, Sydney Sweeney showcased her new set of reverse polka-dot nails, giving a graphic twist to a classic style. One hand featured a glossy white base coated with crimson polka dots, while the other reversed the pattern with a crimson base and white dots.
Polka-dot designs have made a major comeback this summer, with numerous celebrities putting their own spin on the trend. Dua Lipa debuted a sleek, black-tipped polka-dot manicure on her holiday in Mallorca, blending the timeless French manicure with her signature cool-girl flair.
Hailey Bieber joined the “polka dot summer” trend at a Rhode pop-up summer club in Majorca this July. Bieber evolved her signature “glazed donut” look by incorporating a sheer polish accented with asymmetric white dots delicately placed across her nails.
It’s no surprise that Cardi B adopted the style as well, adding a high-fashion twist with long, black, almond-shaped nails covered in oversized white polka dots. In true Cardi B style, she finished the look with a tiny Chanel logo on her pointer finger, which she showcased over the July 4 weekend.
Social media was quick to pick up on the trend. TikTok’s hashtag #polkadotnails has been used in approximately 12,200 posts as of September 2025, while Instagram boasts more than 125,000 posts flaunting the look. Nail lovers everywhere are recreating the simple yet stylish design, proving that polka-dot nails are firmly back, possibly for good.
A spokesperson for Fresha commented on the findings:
“These results highlight the impact that celebrities and TikTok trends can have on fashion and beauty culture. While the polka-dot style isn’t new, it has made a striking comeback as this summer’s must-try trend.
