We’ve rounded up some of the most influential royal baby names in America – who tops the list?

• Charlotte is officially the most influential royal baby name in the U.S., with 12,552 baby girls given the name in 2024 – more than any other royal baby girl name on the list. Princess Charlotte is the daughter of Prince William, Prince of Wales, and Catherine, Princess of Wales
• James is the most influential royal baby boy name, with 11,793 baby boys given the name in 2024 – more than any other royal baby boy name on the list. James, Earl of Wessex, is the youngest child of Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh, and Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh.
• Mia, Elizabeth and Isla are also among the most influential royal baby girl names in the U.S. while Lucas, William and Charles number among the top ten for boys.

The study, by video game asset marketplace Chicks Gold, compiled a list of key members of the British Royal Family and used the latest data on baby names from the U.S. Social Security Administration, to discover the most influential royal baby names for boys and girls in America.

Princess Charlotte is the daughter of Prince William, Princess of Wales and Catherine, Princess of Wales. Charlotte, a diminutive of the male name ‘Charles’, is famous as the name of other renowned royal women, including Queen Charlotte, Queen of Great Britain and Ireland from 1761 to 1818.

2). Mia (12,113 baby girls) 

Mia is the second most influential royal baby girl name in the U.S, with 12,113 baby girls born with the name in 2024. Mia Grace Tindall is the great-granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II, granddaughter of Princess Anne, Princess Royal, and the daughter of Zara Tindall. Mia – from the Italian meaning ‘mine’ – is full of sweetness, light and warmth as a name. 

3). Elizabeth (6878 baby girls)

Elizabeth is the third most influential royal baby girl name in the U.S., with 6878 baby girls born with the name in 2024. Elizabeth as a name carries a powerful depth of royal tradition, reminiscent of Queen Elizabeth II, the longest reigning monarch in British history, but also Queen Elizabeth I, the daughter of Henry VIII. Elizabeth is from the Hebrew meaning “God is my oath”. 

4). Isla (5367 baby girls)

Isla is the fourth most influential royal baby girl name in the U.S. Isla Phillips is the great-granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth II and the granddaughter of Princess Anne, Princess Royal, and the daughter of Princess Anne’s son, Peter Phillips and his ex-wife, Autumn Kelly. Isla is derived from the Scottish “islay”, conveying a beautiful, serene image of stunning Scottish landscapes.

Athena ranks as the sixth most influential royal-inspired baby girl name in the United States. The name gained new prominence in January 2025 with the birth of Princess Beatrice of York’s second daughter, Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi, at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London. Weighing 4 pounds, 5 ounces, Athena was born several weeks early but is now thriving.

There have also been multiple kings with the name of James in history, including King James VI and I (who was King of Scotland from 1567-1625, and King of England from 1603-1625, succeeding Queen Elizabeth I).

Lucas is the second most influential royal baby boy name in the U.S., with 10,703 baby boys born with the name in 2024. Lucas Philip Tindall (whose middle name honours his royal great-grandfather, Prince Philip), is the son of Zara Tindall and Mike Tindall, the grandson of Princess Anne, Princess Royal, and the great-grandson of Queen Elizabeth II. Lucas is from the Latin and Greek, meaning ‘light’.

Andrew is the fifth most influential royal baby boy name in the U.S. Prince Andrew, Duke of York, is the son of the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip. The name Andrew comes from the name “andros” meaning “man”. 

6). August (3876 baby boys)

August is the sixth most influential royal baby boy name in the U.S. August, which derives from the Latin meaning “great” or “venerable”, is the name of Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank’s eldest child – August Philip Hawke Brooksbank. August’s middle name, Philip, is an homage to his royal great-grandfather, Prince Philip.

10). Louis (1503 baby boys) 

Louis is the tenth most influential royal baby boy name in the U.S. Prince Louis is the youngest child of Prince William, Prince of Wales and Catherine, Princess of Wales. German and French in origin, the name Louis means “famous warrior”. Prince Louis’ choice of name is a nod to Louis Mountbatten, Prince Philip’s much-loved uncle.
