The research measured how often travelers share photos of cities in the fall by tracking Instagram hashtags (e.g., #Paris, #ParisAutumn, #FallInBerlin) and comparing them with each city’s tourist numbers. By dividing the total hashtags by visitor numbers, the study examined which destinations inspire travelers to post the most about their autumn trips.

“Autumn brings together all the things that make a destination appealing,” says the spokesperson from Deluxe Holiday Homes. “There’s the visual change in nature, the comfortable weather for exploring on foot, and the cultural calendar that fills with festivals and local events. Visitors see ordinary streets and parks in a new way, and that difference is what makes them want to take out their phones and capture it. The season has a natural storytelling quality that makes it one of the most shared times of year.”
