Who is winning at life between Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl and Lexi Howard from Euphoria? Blair and Lexi are two of my favorite fictional characters, and I adore both of these shows immensely.

I enjoy doing deep dives into both Gossip Girl and Euphoria, but right now, I really want to explain who is winning between Blair and Lexi… based on my own personal opinion, with eight markers of comparison that I’m basing my conclusion on.

I’m comparing them based on their love, lives, their fashion sense, their friendships, their career trajectories, their family bonds, their number of crashouts, their artistic talent, and their level of it-girl energy.

I’ll tally up the points and give you the winner at the end, starting off with their love lives.

Romance

The love lives of both Blair and Lexi have been interesting to watch unfold on both of their shows, so there’s obviously a lot to say here. With Blair, we saw her date a small handful of boyfriends who weren’t exactly ideal, including the Archibald. He cheated on her with Serena van der Woodsen. She also dated Marcus Beaton, who was cheating on her with his own stepmother. And she dated Louis Grimaldi, who tried to trap her in a loveless marriage.

But we did see her have a super healthy, romantic relationship with Dan Humphrey, and even though their love story wasn’t built to last, a lot of Gossip Girl fans still feel like Blair and Dan had the perfect relationship. Some argue that Dan’s love for Blair was way deeper than his love for Serena ever was.

But ultimately, Blair tied the knot with Chuck Bass, and they officially got married in the final season of Gossip Girl. Chuck and Blair are often cited as one of the best TV couples of all time, which I personally have to agree with.

As far as Lexi goes, her love life came to a screeching halt in the third season of Euphoria since Fezco has been locked up in prison for 30 years. We know she works in the Hollywood industry, and there are potential romantic connections she can pursue, but nothing I’ve seen in Lexi‘s love life even slightly compares to the love we’ve witnessed between Blair and Chuck.

For this reason, Blair gets the point.

Fashion

I think it’s safe to say that the fashion sense of both Blair and Lexi is pretty similar. I see a lot of similarities between Lexi and Blair, and their style is one of my biggest arguments. They dress so similarly that there is no better response for this section than giving them a tie.

They both love plaid, argyle, ruffles, floral print, and preppy attire. They generally dress the same in their respective shows, so much so that I feel like the Euphoria costume design designers got some inspiration from Blair Waldorf on Gossip Girl when they were coming up with ideas for Lexi’s character.

I have to give them both a point for this one since their fashion is twinning.

Friendships

Let’s talk about friendships between Blair and Lexi, and who is actually better off in her social life. As far as Blair goes, her friendship dynamics on Gossip Girl have had their highs and lows. Starting with Serena. They went from being BFFs to frenemies to solid friends by the end of the show. Some betrayal and heartbreak were mixed in there between Serena and Blair, but ultimately, they proved their loyalty to each other by the season finale.

We’ve also seen Blair serve as queen view of Constance with other high school girls desperately trying to remain in her good graces because they admired her, looked up to her, and wanted to be just like her, and that includes Little J, who was desperate to be just like Blair if she could be granted the opportunity. Blair was always very popular on Gossip Girl. Maybe not always for the best reasons, since some people feared her more than anything else, but you can’t deny the fact that Blair was always very popular and well known.

In Lexi‘s world, it often seems like she gets ignored and overlooked in her social life. When she’s talking, it feels like people don’t really pay attention or hear her. It’s almost like she’s treated as if she’s background noise. When she was by the pool with Maddy, Rue, and Cassie, she called all of them out for lifestyle decisions she didn’t approve of. And they all pretty much ignored her as if she didn’t say anything at all.

But I’ll also argue that Lexi‘s long-standing friendship with Rue speaks volumes about the love she has in her heart and the loyalty she’s willing to showcase in friendship. Being friends with someone who struggles with addiction off and on throughout their life can’t be easy, but Lexi has a heart big enough to handle it. I also loved seeing the friendship form between Lexi and Maddy in season 2.

I believe there have been a lot of good and bad elements to both Blair and Lexi‘s social lives, so I want to give them both a point for this one.

Number of crashouts

Let’s talk about the number of crashouts Blair and Lexi have had on Gossip Girl and Euphoria… and whoever had fewer crashouts is the one who gets the point here.

I’ll be completely honest when I say that Blair’s list of crashouts on Gossip Girl is kind of a long one. She was never the type of character to hold back with the waterworks, which is something I always respected about Blair. Because she feels all of her emotions so thoroughly.

She crashed out when Nate skipped her 17th birthday party while they were still dating. She crashed out at Doroda’s wedding because she was having relationship drama with Chuck. She crashed out when her eating disorder resurfaced on the bathroom floor with Serena. She crashed out when Chuck refused to say “I love you” in the early stages of their relationship. She crashed out after confronting Chuck for sleeping with Jenny behind her back.

She crashed out after finding out Chuck traded her for the Empire Hotel. She crashed out when she confronted Serena for leaving for boarding school without saying goodbye. She crashed out on her wedding day to Prince Louis while grappling with her unresolved feelings for Chuck. And the list goes on. I’m not saying Blair hasn’t always been completely valid in her crashouts, but I’m just stating the obvious fact. She’s had a lot of them.

Lexi, on the other hand, certainly has not. Lexi is very emotionally stable, and she prefers to keep it that way. She doesn’t like sharing her vulnerability with the world.

So Lexi will get the point here for having WAY fewer crashouts than Blair.

Career trajectories

Let’s talk about career trajectories between Blair and Lexi. They’ve both got a lot going for them. But who has more going for her? Starting with Blair. Blair was always an overachiever in high school, and she deeply cared about her academic future before graduation. She continued caring well into college, and the finale of Gossip Girl revealed that she went into business with Jenny Humphrey for their own fashion line after Blair inherited Waldorf Designs from her mother. Blair has one of the most impressive careers out of all the Gossip Girl characters.

On Euphoria, we see that Lexi has pursued a career in the Hollywood industry, working in entertainment behind the scenes. Which is perfect for Lexi, based on what we saw from her in season 2 of Euphoria when she put on that extremely elaborate school play. Creative storytelling is the name of the game for Lexi, so working in entertainment makes so much sense for her as a career.

I feel they both deserve a point for this one since they’re both working in their chosen fields of interest with success.

Family bonds

As far as family bonds go, who is doing better between Blair and Lexi? In Blair‘s case, she doesn’t have any siblings, but she does have complicated relationships with her mother and father. Her mother went from being very critical and judgmental of Blair and the early seasons of the show to eventually softening her heart and becoming a way better mom to Blair after some personal development and self-growth. Blair had issues with her dad after he cheated with another man and left the family, but she eventually forgave him and rebuilt her loving relationship with him as well.

In Lexi‘s world, her family situation really isn’t the best since her father is an addict who went MIA, her mother is a borderline alcoholic, and her older sister lives a very cringey and embarrassing lifestyle seeking constant validation from men.

Ultimately, I think it’s pretty obvious out Blair‘s family life is better than Lexi’s, so I will give Blair the point.

Artistic talent

Let’s talk about artistic talent comparisons between Blair and Lexi, which sort of goes hand-in-hand with their courage trajectories. However, there’s more to say than just the way they earned their incomes.

Blair is artistically inclined on Gossip Girl in the world of fashion. Fashion is an art form, and Blair expresses herself through the way she dresses. This also includes the emphasis Blair puts on fashion design, creating a clothing line that successfully sells, and honoring her mother‘s legacy.

Lexi is artistically inclined in her ability to tell a compelling story and bring it to life for audiences to consume. Script writing isn’t the easiest thing in the world to accomplish, and neither is working behind the scenes in Hollywood, but Lexi is the type who can pull these things off based on her artistic talent.

I believe Blair and Lexi both deserve a point here for being artsy, talented, creative, and capable of bringing their artistic visions to life.

It girl energy

My last marker of comparison comes out to the level of it girl energy between Blair and Lexi. While it’s true that I do see a lot of similarities between Blair and Lexi, I do have to admit I think there is a very obvious winner here between them regarding who has more energy over the other.

Starting with Blair. Blair has always been a dominating force to be reckoned with. There’s a reason she has minions to follow her around. There’s also a reason Gossip Girl blasts were constantly published about her on the Gossip Girl blog for years. And there’s a reason both Dan Humphrey and Chuck Bass found themselves head over heels MADLY in love with her.

And that reason is Blair’s girl it girl energy. A big reason why people might not notice Blair‘s it girl energy straight away is that she was constantly being compared to Serena on Gossip Girl. And Serena is an obvious character with it girl energy since she’s the reason the Gossip Girl blog was launched in the first place. Serena was constantly being chased by paparazzi while living her best life in the most effortless way ever.

But that doesn’t minimize the fact that Blair is also an it girl, whether you compare her to Serena or not.

When I think of Lexi on Euphoria, I don’t get it girl energy at all. I get the energy of a young woman who is certainly hard-working, beautiful, and ambitious. I get the energy of a young woman who knows how to plan for her future, set boundaries, and focus on her priorities. But I don’t exactly get it girl energy from her since she’s more of the quiet observer type who lives vicariously through others without taking her own risks.

Blair wins this point in my book for having more girl energy.

All in all, Blair gets points for her love life, fashion, friendships, career trajectory, family bonds, having artistic talent, and being the truest definition of an it girl at seven points.

Lexi gets points for career, friendship, fashion sense, having fewer crashouts, and artistic talent at five points.

Gotta love Lexi, but Blair is the winner in my book!
