Let’s discuss why Jules Vaughn from Euphoria would thrive in the Gossip Girl world.

I deeply believe she’d struggle at first, but eventually, if she decided to fully immerse herself and adapt, she could totally win the game every character plays on Gossip Girl with an impressive fierceness.

Problems Jules might face on Gossip Girl

Jules is a little too emotionally unstable for the level of manipulation we see on Gossip Girl. On Gossip Girl, you’re dealing with humiliation, constant betrayal, mind games, and Gossip Girl blasts where friends are posting secrets and rumors about each other all the time. These types of things would dysregulate any average person, and that includes Jules. Additionally, the fact that she craves validation from emotionally unavailable people would definitely hurt her on the Upper East Side. The toxicity of Gossip Girl could take a negative toll on Jules, since Gossip Girl maintains its toxicity almost 24 seven. Jules, being too emotionally vulnerable and unwilling to play the game of social strategy or hierarchy, could definitely ruin her ability to succeed and thrive on the Upper East Side, since Gossip Girl is literally a game. But still, I believe Jules could survive in the Gossip Girl universe for other reasons that stomp out all the negative points I just made.

Jules would become an instant icon

Jules has such a strong aesthetic and presence, and that matters a lot in the Gossip Girl world. She is capable of reinventing herself easily, shifting identity faster than most characters. She’s not afraid of being different, and she’s certainly not afraid of standing out. In the first two seasons of Euphoria, she wore some of the brightest and most vibrant colors ever. That’s a sign of a person who doesn’t mind being the center of attention. That’s a sign of a person who enjoys being seen. Which is definitely important on Gossip Girl. Jules would be effortlessly captivating to people on the Upper East Side because she stands out so much compared to others. In my opinion, she’d stand out in a similar way to Jenny Humphrey. The blonde hair, blue eyes, perfect smiles, and slender figures would have her gaining just as much attention as Jenny. She would quickly be seen as an icon on Gossip Girl, in my opinion, for these reasons. You have to remember that the Gossip Girl blog was launched in the first place by Dan Humphrey because he was obsessed with the fantasy of Serena van der Woodsen. He placed Serena on a pedestal, not knowing much about her, but he just loved the fantasy of who she was. It kind of reminds me of the way through saw Jules as a fantasy in season one of Euphoria. Most Gossip Girl characters would easily understand that sentiment, seeing Jules living her best life on the streets of New York City, getting posted on the Gossip Girl blog all the time. The fantasy of Jules would be consuming and captivating to people around her. Her love life would be promising

I’m convinced Jules would have a promising love life if she were to be written into Gossip Girl, and this goes beyond just pairing her off with the three Gossip Girl boyfriends we all know and love, which are Dan Humphrey, Nate Archibald, and Chuck Bass. If Jules dated Dan, he would initially idolize her in a way she’d secretly love, and that’s because he romanticizes complicated girls and projects depth onto Women who he sees as artistic or misunderstood. Jules fits that perfectly. They have insane conversational chemistry since they’re both introspective, emotionally expressive, and fascinated by identity. Dan likes girls who stand out, a.k.a., why he was pining after the most popular girl on campus when he was obsessing over Serena Vander Woodson. Jules being trans would not scare him away, and he’d probably see her as more emotionally evolved than other Upper East Side girls. Jules craves emotional validation, and she loves being deeply understood, so Dan’s hyper attentiveness would feel intoxicating to her at first. They’d probably trauma bond through feeling like outsiders in the middle of elite social spaces. This relationship could definitely work. It could also fail if the fantasy of Jules cracked in Dan’s mind and he started gaining resentment towards her for being a flawed human, since he has a history of doing that. But initially, I do think a relationship between them could work. Between Jules and Nate, I also see a strong connection. Nate is the least judgmental and least performative of all three Gossip Girl boyfriends. Jules brings excitement, unpredictability, and emotional depth into Nate’s otherwise passive life. He is a very go-with-the-flow, passive character at his core. But the good thing about Nate is that he genuinely accepts people as they are, which means Jules would probably feel safer with him than most other guys on Gossip Girl. The drawback of this relationship is that Jules could possibly get bored since Nate is quite passive, and Jules craves intensity, stimulation, and psychological engagement. Nate is conflict-avoidant, so that could be a problem, but I also see this relationship being transformative for both of them. But the strongest romantic connection I see for Jules will be with Chuck. Chuck and Jules would resonate over the fact that they are both mysterious, deeply sexual, and impossible to “own” by another person. Jules is attracted to intensity and emotional danger, which are things he naturally radiates. They would have a devastatingly glamorous, highly sexual, almost intoxicating level of chemistry. But even if Jules didn’t get romantically involved with any of the three Gossip Girl boyfriends, she would still easily find what she’s looking for on the east side. Let me factor in the detail of Jules’ willingness to have transactional relationships that we’ve learned about in season three of Euphoria. She’s willing to date wealthy men who are willing to pay her an allowance. And you can bet that exact type of man can be found in Abundance in New York City. Jules would have her pic of the litter with Richmond, who are attracted to transgender women, if she were to be written into Gossip Girl.
