Jenny Humphrey from Gossip Girl was quite literally surrounded by so many predators during her time on the show… It’s insane.

I’m about to break down every single moment. Jenny was targeted by a predator on Gossip Girl, so you know exactly what I’m talking about.

I hate that she gets vilified so much because her situation was so problematic when she was still so young on Gossip Girl. Jenny was a teenage girl, surrounded by literal predators, and everyone just kept pointing fingers at her, blaming her for everything, and treating her like she was scum of the Earth the whole time.

It actually kind of infuriates me to think about it since I have a soft spot in my heart for Little J.

For me personally, I think my soft spot for Jenny stems from the fact that she grew up in a sexist household with a father and brother who wanted to control her and keep her trapped in a cage like a bird. She was a butterfly who just wanted to fly free, but they constantly wanted to break her down and control her.

Her desires in life were extremely normal. She wanted to succeed while following her passions and dreams of becoming a fashion designer. She wanted to find true love with the right guy. She wanted to fit in at school among her classmates. There was nothing inherently out of control or out-of-pocket about her goals in life.

But everyone around her acted like she was an idiot. So that’s why I think it’s easy for the Gossip Girl fandom to vilify her… but if you think about the way predators on the show constantly surrounded her, it should soften your heart towards her at least a little bit.
