I created this pole choreography to “Party 4 u” by Charli XCX because it’s a song I have a really personal connection to.

For me, the song carries a lot of emotion around the loss of a friendship and the feeling of realizing that someone you once cared deeply about is no longer part of your life.

But instead of letting that association completely change how I feel about the song, I wanted to reclaim it.

There is still so much beauty, energy, and fun in “party 4 u,” and this choreography is my way of reconnecting with that.

I intentionally kept the choreography basic, easy, and fun. I wanted it to feel accessible rather than like a routine where you need advanced pole skills to participate.

The choreography starts on the floor with cookie monster legs and pin-up kicks, finishing with a playful heel clack before transitioning onto the pole.

From there, it incorporates simple spins, hip scoots, knee pops, and body rolls around the pole, eventually building into some twerking.

The movements are meant to match the playful, carefree energy of the song while still leaving room for the emotion underneath it.

There’s something really satisfying about taking a song connected to an experience that hurt and creating a completely new memory around it.

This routine isn’t about being technically perfect. It’s about having fun, feeling yourself, moving your body, and remembering that you can reclaim something beautiful even when the memories attached to it have changed.
