Weddings are expensive. Little things add up, no matter the size of the party or the kind of wedding you plan on having.
And while everyone can agree weddings are one of the most important days in a person’s life, and thus expense shouldn’t be too much of an issue, it can still be nice to save a few dollars here and there.
Tiktok user Sami Rose Tansel walks us through a few things you don’t have to have in your wedding, though people might tell you otherwise.
Wedding favors
The first: wedding favors. Typically a small gift or commemoration of the wedding for the guests, Sami notes that most people usually end up forgetting to take them.
While they’re a nice gesture of thanks, there are other ways of letting your guests know how much you appreciate them being there for you on your special day.
Full bar
The next: a full bar. While having an array of alcoholic options for guests can be nice, Sami correctly points out most people are content with wine or beer.
This doesn’t mean you can’t be classy: if you want to create a single signature cocktail, you can have it stand out all the more if you don’t offer a full bar!
Save-the-dates
Wedding save-the-dates are next on the list. While it’s always nice to have an accurate initial headcount, you can save time and money by simply sending out the actual invitation a few months earlier.
You’ll still know who’s coming, and you can save a tidy sum on printing and cards – not to mention time that might better be spent with your spouse-to-be!
Giant wedding cake
Finally, Sami notes that, while it’s perfectly valid to want one, you don’t actually need “a big giant wedding cake”.
There are other methods of celebration post-wedding: by handing out smaller sweets or baked goods that might be more personalized to you, you can save on both money and time.
Sami emphasizes that once again, there’s nothing with having any, or everything on this list: this is just a way to ensure that you might save a few bucks if you want!
