There’s a new Marvel movie to get excited about – even though it’s not premiering until 2024. When Euphoria premiered on HBO in 2019, it shed light on some of the most talented upcoming actors of this generation… including Sydney Sweeney.

Sweeney‘s character in Euphoria is extremely complex, constantly crying, and in dire need of validation from others.

It’s possible the character she’s projected to play in Marvel’s upcoming Madame Web will be someone with a little more strength and self-esteem.

As of now, it’s unclear who Sweeney will be playing in the movie, but it’s official that she’s definitely snagged a role. The Sony Pictures film will be directed by S.J. Clarkson with its screenplay penned by both Burk Sharpless and Matt Sazama.

Sydney Sweeney is starring in ‘Madame Web’ with Dakota Johnson

Sweeney will be joining Dakota Johnson in the cast which means she’s already in great company. Johnson already knows how to take on dramatic movies with huge box office expectations.

Her leading role in the Fifty Shades of Grey franchise between 2015 and 2018 cemented her in stone as one of the most daring and open-minded actresses in Hollywood.

Although the 50 Shades franchise is still mainly what Johnson is recognized for amongst audiences today, she’s starred in a handful of other films since then.

Opinions from audiences about Johnson might revamp from provocative to heroic after the world sees her take charge in Madame Web. There’s been speculation that Johnson will be playing the younger version of the titular role.

What is ‘Madame Web’ about?

Plot details about Madame Web are being kept tightly under wraps for now also. Comic book lovers can certainly guess what they think the movie might be about, but at this point, no one knows for sure.

Based on the classic comics from the 80s, Madame Web is the alias of Cassandra Webb. She’s an elderly woman who’s fallen ill from a neuromuscular disease that leaves her battling debilitating blindness and paralysis.

Fortunately for her, she’s still able to help Peter Parker with her clairvoyance and powers of telepathy. Madame Web is connected to other important characters like Charlotte Witter, aka Spider-Woman.

Since there are so many classic comics written about the character of Madame Web to pull from, there should be plenty of fascinating storylines movie makers can use to captivate eager viewers.

The collaboration of Sweeney and Johnson will likely result in a box office hit of epic proportions when Madame Web finally hits theaters. Both actresses have already proven their levels of talent up to this point.
