Selena Gomez was in the spotlight for a long time, having progressed from a Disney child star to an adult actress.
The first job Selena Gomez picked after leaving the Disney brand accentuated her shift from kid star to grown-up actress.
Spring Breakers was the name of that project. While many of us assumed Selena chose the over-the-top and aggressively boisterous picture to abandon her once clean image, it turns out that taking on Spring Breakers wasn’t entirely her idea.
Still, the message was loud and clear that her Disney days were over. Does she miss Disney at all?
Does Selena Gomez miss Disney Channel?
While she appeared in Wizards of Waverly Place, Selena claimed that she put pressure on herself to be “the best role model” she could be.
According to Yahoo, she added, “Now I think being honest, even with the ugly and complicated parts of yourself, is the best role model.”
Selena also stated that she is no longer “haunted by the idea that people would always associate” her with Disney, particularly following her recent Apple TV+ documentary My Mind and Me. Many people have a broad sense of what it’s like to be a child actor.
My Mind and Me follows the singer during a six-year span in her career, charting her struggle with stardom as well as her medical and mental condition after being diagnosed with lupus and bipolar illness.
We know that young actors frequently focus on academics on set rather than in a typical school setting.
Selena spent the bulk of her childhood focused on her acting and music career,
According to MTV, Selena once said, “I remember just feeling really violated when I was younger, even just being on the beach. I was maybe 15 or 16 and people were taking pictures — photographers. I felt very violated and I didn’t like it or understand it, and that felt very weird because I was a young girl and they were grown men. I didn’t like that feeling.”
After Disney Selena Gomez signed onto Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building in 2021, her first written television appearance since Wizards of Waverly Place.
Now that she’s an adult who’s more in control of the projects she works on and the way others are able to interact with her, she seems to be a lot happier. It appears that growing up and moving on from Disney Channel has benefited her greatly,
