Are you feeling a bit curious to know whether or not your relationship is built to last for the long haul?
Relationships that are built to stand the test of time tend to have one major thing in common: Gentle honesty.
TikToker @DanHentschel shared the video with a test you can try on your partner to decipher what your future may look like.
Relationship test for the future
Dan says that the test should begin with you making dinner for your partner in a way that you know doesn’t taste good.
He specifies, “Make it taste objectively bad, but not enough to be obvious.”
Consider adding a little too much salt or not enough sugar. Leave out a crucial core ingredient or overdo it with an ingredient you’re supposed to barely sprinkle in.
Think of a way to thoroughly mess with the taste of dinner as you’re completing the chosen recipe.
Dan says, “If [your partner] pretends it’s good and tries to finish it, the relationship is doomed. Because it means they’re too afraid of confrontation to communicate.
“If they say it’s bad, but they’re mean… that means they don’t care about your feelings at all.
“But if they tell you in a way that’s mindful of your feelings, [you’re in] a relationship that could last forever!”
Gentle honesty goes a long way.
Couples who are scared of confrontation allow way too many things to be swept under the rug, which means issues will start festering to the point of you both reaching your boiling points.
It’s incredibly unhealthy to be in a relationship with someone who’s avoidant or fearful of stirring the pot.
Couples who easily go off on each other without any regard clearly aren’t going to make it very far, either.
When two people genuinely love each other, speaking to each other with kind words and gentle tones should be the norm.
If you’re dating someone who snaps at you, berates you, or criticizes you relentlessly, you probably already know you shouldn’t stay with them.
Couples who can exhibit gentle honesty to each other in situations where it isn’t easy or fun are aware that getting through tough conversations is necessary for the longevity of true love.
