What’s not to love about fall? Pumpkin spice, sweaters, and horror movies are always a must.
There are things we automatically imagine ourselves doing this time of year. Going to a haunted house, making a scarecrow, and visiting an apple orchard or pumpkin patch are just a few things we naturally participate in.
But, have you considered adding something unique to your fall bucket list? Here’s a list of eight things you can do this season, whether you’re 40 or 14.
Make Halloween colored tie dye shirts

Nearly everyone enjoys taking part in tie-dye. It is fun, creative, and can be a great bonding moment with your friends and family.
Gather up the supplies and make Halloween tie-dye shirts this fall. Not only will you have a new spooky season essential, but you’ll create memories with those you love most.
Double craft a pumpkin

We have heard of both carving pumpkins and painting pumpkins. Why not do both to the same pumpkin?
That’s right! Paint one side of the pumpkin early in the fall to showcase your art skills or to simply enjoy the sight. Closer to Halloween, carve the other side of the pumpkin.
You save money, you waste less, and you can be double the artist.
DIY potpourri

People love the smell of fall. Apple, pumpkin, and cinnamon are just a few scents that come to mind.
I guarantee you have at least one candle or wax melt made specifically for the fall season.
If you’re looking for a crafty idea to do with family or friends, or you simply want a more natural way to add fragrance to your home, this DIY fall potpourri made be for you.
BOO your friends, family, or neighbors
Frightening the people around you is a very common tradition during the spooky season. But, have you ever considered offering kindness?
Print this free You’ve Been Booed printable and take it upon yourself to create a fun, Halloween goody bag or box.
The concept is to create a Halloween themed gift, place it on your loved ones porch, ring the doorbell, and take off. By “booing” them, you’re showing love and gratitude for them.
Make apple or pumpkin spice playdough
This is my all time favorite playdough recipe. It requires flour, salt, cream of tartar, oil, hot water, and food coloring. Despite your age, you’re sure to enjoy this one.
To add the apple or pumpkin spice fragrance, simply add spices or extract to the hot water before creating your mixture. It works like a charm every time.
DIY Halloween buckets

Repurpose old buckets, cans, etc. to create your own Halloween buckets.
Personally, I love to use old Easter buckets or collect cans from canned foods. Clean the item really well, spray paint them, then add a Halloween touch to it.
Don’t forget to add a clear coat so your paint doesn’t chip.
I like to spray paint my cans orange and add pumpkin faces to them. I have used them to hold candy, for decoration, and I’ve even added a handle to use them for trick-or-treating.
There is truly no wrong way to do this.
Pop corn on the cob
You’ll need dried corn on the cob for this.
It is so simple! Put your dried corn on the cob in a paper bag, fold the top of the bag over, and place it in the microwave for 2.5-4 minutes.
You can then add your popcorn to a bowl and add your desired toppings.

Document the leaves changing colors

Not only is this a fun activity in general, but it is a great science experiment!
Starting around mid-September, go outside and find the perfect tree. On a daily basis, visit the tree, snap a picture, and document the color and texture of the leaves.
You will be able to create an awesome collage of the ever-changing leaves and see the seasonal changes firsthand.
