Plenty of celebs get their start on Disney Channel. Bella Thorne and Zendaya became household names after landing their Shake it Up roles on the kid-friendly network.

Shake it Up premiered in 2010 and lasted for three fun-filled seasons. Each episode focused on music, dancing, and friendship.

According to Us Weekly, things weren’t always rainbows and butterflies for Zendaya and Bella. During the early days of filming their show, Disney execs pitted them against each other to create somewhat of a competitive environment.

In 2021, Bella told the outlet, “That fed into our heads. It made us not friends in that first season.”

Things eventually changed for the better, and the two were able to form a friendship.

Bella went on to say, “Zendaya’s amazing. I f–––ing love her. She’s always been amazing and she’s always going to be amazing. I’m just happy that people see that. She’s getting the recognition she deserves. That just makes me so happy.”

That same year, Zendaya reflected on the old days with Bella as well.

According to Elite Daily, she said, “We were so young. We were growing up together. We were like 13 [or] 14… We went to school together and it was really only us in the classroom.

“You know what I mean? We would have hour-long digressions and just talk. There was one time she came over [to] my house and we made cupcakes. It was little things like that that were special. That was good times.”

Zendaya and Bella have only ever said kind words about each other, which leads us to believe they’re still on friendly terms today.
