One thing the young adults of this generation have in common is that we don’t want to be stuck at a job they hate for decades of their lives.
The Boomers and the Gen-Xers were willing to stay at the same jobs for decades until reaching retirement age. That no longer happens to be the case today.
When Millennials and Gen-Zers search through job listings on Indeed and LinkedIn, we’re simply not impressed by what they’re seeing.
A clash of needs in the workforce

Gen-Zers (specifically) care about inclusivity, tolerance, and the acceptance of minority groups like the LGBTQIA+ community.
We don’t want to work somewhere that feels discriminatory, outdated, or judgmental.
Gen-Zers are seeking positions that offer job security so we aren’t so on edge with anxiety about the future all the time.
Gen-Z is recognized as a generation of young people who are riddled with anxiety. If we can feel safe and secure at work, that would be helpful.
Since tons of Gen-Zers with full-time jobs must also rely on side hustles to pay their bills, we prefer working for companies that provide flexibility and true work-life balance.
Companies that actually cultivate workplace environments that are inviting to the younger crowd will come out on top in terms of attracting younger applicants.
Mental health resources, four-day work weeks, remote/hybrid options, and consistent convos full of positive feedback are some great places to start.
No matter how desperate for a job young Millennials or Gen-Zers might be, if the job isn’t something that makes us feel peaceful and content, we’re just not going to be interested.
