If you were ever a fan of The Hills, then you’re most likely familiar with the infamous downfall of Lauren Conrad’s and Heidi Montag’s friendship.
The drama was so enticing at the time that it was hard to look away from. We all know they went through a serious public feud, but where do they stand now?
The beginning
Lauren and Heidi met in 2005 when they both attended The Academy of Art Institution in San Francisco. They quickly became best friends and soon went into the fashion industry together.
Judging by the series, which began in 2006, the two were quite the pair. They were both besties and roommates. From shopping to eating out, they did nearly everything together.
That was until Spencer Pratt entered the picture. Spencer and Heidi began dating despite Lauren’s recurring advice to Heidi that he was not the right fit.
The end of their friendship
Heidi eventually moved in with Spencer in season two, and the friendship between her and Lauren dwindled quickly. The ultimate end of their sisterhood transpired when Spencer leaked a story to the press about Lauren, supposedly, filming an “adult video” with ex Jason Wahler.
Despite the truth, their friendship seemed to be beyond repair. While it made for good drama on the series, most fans felt the heartache it caused.
An attempt to rekindle
The show went on to film a total of six seasons. During those seasons, the twosome never reignited their friendship. However, they did share some profound moments.
At Heidi and Spencer’s 2009 wedding, Lauren and Heidi shared a one-on-one moment in the dressing room, which ended up being more of an official goodbye for the duo.
Where is Speidi now?
Heidi and Spencer, also known as Speidi on the series, are still going strong after being together for 17 years. They now host a podcast entitled Speidi’s 16th Minute and parent two children together.
They were both recently interviewed by Page Six. During this interview, Heidi reported that Lauren wanted a single wingwoman by her side.
So, when she realized her love interest Brody Jenner wasn’t going to end up in a long-term relationship, she thought Heidi should end things with Spencer as well. When Heidi refused to end the relationship, everything changed.
Heidi said she never “wanted to be a villain,” but “she risked it all for love.”
Clearly, her love for Spencer turned out to be the best move as it is rare to find any Hollywood couples who stay together for 17 years.
Where is Lauren now?
Lauren is now married to Charlie Wolf Tell and they have two sons together.
She has gone on to have a successful clothing line, in which she produces women’s clothing and accessories, books, and kids clothing. You can find her items on her website and at the famous retail store, Kohl’s.
She also introduced her first fragrance, named Loved, in April of 2022.
Did they ever become friends again?
Lauren and Heidi still do not speak to one another. They have both headed down different paths in life.
While the feud was heartbreaking, it was nearly two decades ago and both have grown up a lot since then.
In a 2022 interview with Us Weekly, Heidi reported, “Lauren and I have not spoken. Now that we’re both mothers, I think we see how unimportant so much of the drama is.
“Also it really makes you have a tighter group of friends, and you don’t really have time to chit-chat or have long-term acquaintances.
She continued, “We are just on such different paths at this point. I would hope there is more mutual respect.”
