Whenever you see “before and after” pictures of people who’ve lost significant amounts of weight, one thing you probably notice is their loose skin.
Dealing with loose skin after shedding weight is incredibly common when you’re dropping 100 pounds or more.
The good news is that you don’t necessarily have to deal with loose skin after going through a weight loss journey – if you’re open to the prospect of fasting.
TikToker and health expert @SweetFiber, also known as Denise, shared some insight about the way fasting can impact your weight loss results when it comes to your skin.
Fasting could prevent loose skin after weight loss
Denise shared the story of Angus Barbieri, a man who fasted for a year and 17 days.
He ended up losing 275 pounds in total by refraining from food consumption. He still consumed water, tea, and black coffee.
The most shocking detail of all?
Angus didn’t deal with any loose or sagging skin afterward.
Denise went on to describe a more recent study conducted by Dr. Jason Fung. He worked with a group of type 2 diabetics.
The individuals who had previously been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes were able to reverse their condition after three to six months of fasting!
On top of their healing from diabetes, they also lost a significant amount of weight. Fortunately for this group, they didn’t need skin removal surgery after trimming down.
According to Dr. Fung, your body starts harvesting the proteins contained in your excess skin whenever you’re fasting.
When you lose weight through fasting, your skin shrinks down with you!
This is an exciting new development for people on weight loss journeys who are concerned about what will happen to their skin in the future.
