Kelly Clarkson is making a bold parental call: her kids, River Rose (9) and Remington (7), won’t be diving into the social media world until they’re 18!

In a candid chat with People magazine, the Grammy-winning artist revealed her reasons for slamming the digital door shut on her kids.

“[Social media] can be really hard on kids in general but especially kids with parents in the public eye,” Kelly said.

Kelly finalized her divorce in March 2022, two years after filing, from Brandon Blackstock. They were married for nearly seven years.

The “Behind These Hazel Eyes” songstress was awarded primary physical custody of their children.

“My daughter was like, ‘Well, what if Dad lets me?’” Kelly said.

“I’m like, ‘Well, you’re there four days a month. Enjoy that.’ And right now he’s not letting them do it either,” she shared.

Kelly admitted co-parenting is challenging

Despite the challenges of shared custody, she’s taking charge, ensuring a consistent upbringing for River and Remington.

She’s upfront about the parenting rollercoaster, admitting that there is “no perfect parent” but that she’s “giving it my all”

In the same interview, the singer opened up about the “extraordinarily hard” depression she experienced after the divorce.

Speaking to the publication, she said that writing her new album ‘Chemistry‘ helped her process the turmoil of the divorce.

“You feel alone, and it’s just a blessing to be able to have that outlet for those emotions that are overwhelming,” she said.

When asked whether she is currently single, Kelly told her audience that she not ready to jump back into the dating pool just yet.

“I am still in the stage of really enjoying me, so I’m not there,” Kelly explained at the time.
