I discovered the crazy and ever changing world of sports hospitality. Who knew that when I applied to grad school I would end up working in baseball stadium suites and in-seat service!
I turned 26 years old that month, and with that came lovely things like losing my parent’s health insurance and becoming officially closer to 30 than I was to 20. Here’s what my job experience at Angels Stadium was like.
The Job Front
I am currently a hospitality/premium intern for Legends, the official hospitality company for the Angel Stadium, Cowboys, Rams, Yankees and more. This internship treats us as supervisors, and rotates us throughout the stadium departments, including premium suites, restaurants, and catering.
There is always something going on at sports stadiums, even when there is not a home game. I am currently working in the stadium restaurant, learning everything about supervising servers, runners and making sure guests have a good experience. I am working hard in the hopes that I can work full time for Legends!
The hospitality industry is a tough one. There is a lot of turnover, long days, and angry guests. But I have always been drawn to this industry from my days as a flight attendant, to today!
I have some big plans in motion and will reveal them when things are more solid. In the meantime, I will be writing about the highs and lows of working at a sports stadium. Feel free to ask me any questions!
The School Front
I took off last quarter in order to focus on Coachella. I had aspirations of potentially joining the festival circuit, but working Coachella was essentially the absolute worst experience of the year so that was a waste of time.
But that break from school did motivate me to want to push for my master’s degree. No more breaks for me. I do have plans in motion to study abroad in Spain at the University of Barcelona. Have you ever studied in Europe? Comment your experience!
